When put like that you have a good point Kobra.

Maybe something where you can do con at any time on any mob and it doesn’t use anymore exp than itnwluldve at lvl 1-15 with 10str? That way if there’s any new players they can simply come and go from con as they please. I obviously did my con at lvl 1 with 10str in several chars but I’m happy to see the game progress for the greater good.

I'd definitely agree with a quest that gives 30 con for the equivalent of level 1-16 experience. Even on this char with 22.5 con, I'd sacrifice the exp I've already spent doing con on top of level 1-16 exp.

I think this way, it's more flexible and fun than starting at level 16 with 30 con and doesn't penalise people who have made 'gen 2' characters without 30 con already.

Like the idea of punch damage being made same as 10 str to a mob. Means you could do it whenever 😊

Tho would still affect all current characters if things were changed now.

Or.. could jus keep con gains as it is now, but make it 5 x faster so u could knock out 30 in a days play

Or change nothin..and ppl stop bein lazy barstewards ;p

Whatever we change will always annoy someone but the proposed 10 str damage per punching mobs would probably have the least damage yet also keep con as a stat to gain.

Its actually a nice option. I'm sure there are a few players with con lingering around 26-28 who would like to do more but have been worried about sacrificing %. All good.

If you were a new player coming from WoW / Guild wars / whatever AAA MMo - and by chance came across Soma, would you talk to people in town, find out you need CON and INT for a good start char, do 0.3 CON and uninstall? - most likely yes.

Does this mean that players like myself and 90%+ of the community have had to do it the hard way and these new gens get it easier - yes
Am i upset about that? - HELL NO, get the userbase up at our expense in my opinion.

I would create a new char if this was done purely due to being close to the current cap and wanting to make a different build.

Just my thoughts, i'm not saying you are wrong - i'm just looking at Soma as the 15 year old game it is and how we can improve for new players (or the limited new players that Soma attracts)



No one tells new players they need to do con, no one sane anyway, because if you were telling them everything they needed to know you'd be telling them to quit the game there and then. That would also be true if you chose to give them 30 con at the start and increased rates x10 up to level 100.

You want to know the best way to keep people involved? Make the game fun below cap stats and stop trying to pretend there's balance in the game by hiding the difference between a fresh level 120 and a 5 year player.

It still makes sense to do con on bugs as now you can do it with 100+ dex so your hit rate will be amazing.

Loving this new con change! I'm lvl 62 and doing con on bugs, my rested is still going up as I'm gaining such little %.
