upgrades....

200 craft skill equals an improved success rate on upgrades from 150+, not perfect upgrades - things can still fail they are just less likely to, if you’re aware of that I’m unsure why these sort of posts even persist tbh.

he does them every month or so after failing some upgrades, with the subtle hint that because he wasted a year of his life farming 200skill, hes entitled to +8 weps. His posts normally include "im not asking for X, but I feel at 200skill I should be getting Y"

Has there ever been confirmation from any gm that at 150 and 200 craft skill gives a better success rate at the anvil?

Pretty sure it's unchanged from esoma but 200 has always given more it's just the difference it gives isn't worth the extra time and effort required to get it as you can tell from Lupi's monthly moaning.

Can say that on the standard files, "crafted upgrades" as i don't know what changes have been made on here, success rates on upgrading were higher with 150+skill in an artisan craft and 200skill, those were the only boosts in success rates. Ghostlord, are you saying that has been changed to a static rate on these files to be set if you have 100 or 200, it'll be the same?



I was never aware of this. I only know about the 100 skill required.

So many myths about crafting it's hard to know what's true untill Finito confirms it, ha.

the purpose of the thread was to put forward suggestions made by a couple of ppl... about making upgrades add a + ..rather than break the item if it fails.
I dont expect everything to succeed whatever my skill is. Like i said rng etc etc ..no-1 expects everything to succeed.. just a suggestion put forward about items not breaking.
If cretins like to twist things and make it a personal attack then that's fine..
Cretins like a few of the ppl above are why many players are reluctant to post on the forums..

Yea Lupi I can read and I’ve read you spout the same old BS about 10 times, hence I finally said something.

This suggestion is terrible, it’s had about 5 minutes thought put into it and would break the game in a month or 2, if you can read too I hope you read this and stop posting the same whiny BS. Merry Christmas.

wipe server / cap upgrades at +5 ... make ss have chance to get better recoil than a toe

problem solved ... but o wait .. won't happen -.-

What about a repeatable quest that takes a long time to complete. You get a item once you finish it that let's you craft just once with that item. The item does what you said and doesn't break the item just adds the +1 if it fails. This way it limits the number of 'unbreakable' upgrades but gives people a chance to try for the big upgrade. The item could be called The Guardian :p

I think it's a bad idea this +1 if the upgrade fails, I'd rather lose the items than have a fake upgrade.

You would end up with items at +4,5,6,7,8 that are in fact only +2,3,4 nobody is going to buy them, and unable to try and improve them.

The anvil can be cruel at times but can also be kind at times.

From finito

Upgrade system is the same as esoma it has not been changed it is RNG (pseudo random generator, though it is C's rand implementation which is not ideal at all, would prefer to use Mersenne Twister) with the % chance of success being based on the current upgrade level of the item (the +) and crafting skill (where applicable some upgrades don't need it and have set success % for each upgrade level).

Nothing personal about it, just don't see why everytime you break an item or two and get salty the entire forum must know about it. It comes off as a cry for attention.

The system is archaic by modern standards, benefiting those who either share upgrades as a team or who live on the game.

Soma's community is small and most have responsibilities that take them away from being able to plow the needed hours to make said items.

Soma has always needed a real endgame, rather than farming upgrades, it's a circular process with no real reason.

Farm, upgrade, farm more efficiently, upgrade more...so you can farm yet again.
