I'm a lev 90+ fanboy... bring on the new mobs !!
Surely the idea of these types of games..is to gain levels..get stronger and get items.. that's what the gm's have provided for the last 2 years.
What else can u expect?
Make things a lil easier for ppl to catch up... the options aren't massive.
More x2 events maybe... etc etc

Expect? absolutely nothing its already far beyond what it can practically achieve and than what i expected in all honesty.

The only 1. thing I would like to see is an increased player count, I think the game is 10x what esoma was and im not sure there is much more to be done. But player base being relatively small and that's not really increased historically by all that much.

So as a player and lover of the game, not looking at practical constraints, I ask myself how can we increase that player base? and adding another 10 lvl's and another boss mob every year isn't going to achieve that. It will keep you regulars happy but that's it.

imo..the biggest thing holding things back is the difficulty in making equips/ upgrading. Many have quit/ given up after losing everything at the anvil.
Also the pvp....
'player vs player' tends to = 3-4-5 players vs 1 player... so a single player has 0 chance and is enivitably a deadman.
To realistically be involved in pvp, u need to be in a large guild with backup to help. With only 4 guilds regularly participating in group pvp, that narrows the options.
On the + side... 18 months or so ago was only 1 guild. At least now the competing guilds have increased.

Maybe a few more events with x2 drops and xp.. a few more wep drops..and all can be fixed.
There's a hardcore of fanboys/ soma lovers that want to play.
Gm's know that, and maybe its just being patient and wait for them to have some time.
As regards getting people to help...well...1. do they really need it.. and 2. i'd guess they probably want it to be 'theirs' . Been all going ok now for 6 years.. why would they wana bring in 'unknowns' to potentially upset the applecart

None of which is really going to make a huge difference to the user count though is it? your not going to increase that base however many in game tweak you want to make in pvp or upgrades, again you'll keep the current soma fanbase happy, so im not saying this is a stupid idea, but what is the point in just maintaining a game for the same few hundred people year in year out?

maybe that's always been the intentions in which case its achieved exactly what its supposed to, but my aspirations for the game were at least a little more, and i'm totally convinced that accessibility is the key issue with the user-count. The Game isn't modern head turning title, 2D isometric graphics no NEW player, true new player is going to download this on the PC realistically, If You open up to an audience of new players where graphics and gameplay are not the main attractions and it could be a different story.

I thought good things when it was greenlight by steam, making it available via steam would open up to a new player base i should imagine, but opening up to a mobile OS has to be the only way I can see of making any real impact.

in regards to opening up and allowing more people in to develop and create, you're right that's a major risk, and nobody is for a second saying that they should just hand over the keys to the server and let someone else carry on, Risks like that are easily mitigated with the correct management and are risks that are associated with the development of any application , but they cant be the reason to stop development at the same time or we would never see progress.

but this in my opinion only, I only ever wanted what's best for the game and its community, and if that means we continue down this path and it keeps our current users happy that's great too.

But personally if i had to see a long term goal of this game it has to be survive and attract NEW players, not just to tend to the whims of the few hundred esoma players that are nostalgic for their childhoods like me!

i'd think making everythin a lil easier.. a lil quicker.. mayb if u get pk'd once, u get 60 mins immunity would be making things more accessible.
But like u say.. just opinions.. i aint arguin x

Think for hsoma your main issues, and what puts me off from investing

Con to 30 isn't a big issue but a pain, which ends up being done afk anyhow

Int healing to 100, I understand this is not such a major issue at cap but feels like somthing you need to do to have a good chat nowadays

And the biggest issue stopping me from playing is having to duel screen with a tank (not that I have a tank but could possibly borrow one) in order to level on the best rates, I think they should lower the bonus rates down to 20+ mob str to encourage ppl to solo and not rly on having to duel screen, plus would open up the level path and not having to jump into Vod at lvl 30

Nm the pain in the arse relying on SR :D

If those where tweaked I'd possibly be playing hsoma instead of dsoma

Dsoma issue purely down to drops, which can be realy harsh which has lead to ppl quitting and its low usercount currently

I'd like to see as we have Hero V2 now, When you reach level 50 you are given Hero V1 without having to run around chasing essences, would help newer people

imo the whole +50 route puts people off

Give all old school mobs +50str/30int bonus under <171 and be done with it. A lot of people have made or are remaking characters anyway as it gives them something to do / aim for. We also need to re-work the old mob drops somehow to make it equally rewarding for the amount of time and effort you put in so those mobs get hunted with the change in bonus. Let's be honest the +50 isn't just attractive for the stats but the loot from BLG and the earlier you get on that train for the rubies etc puts you in a better position to gear up.
