Saturday Update - Best path for new players

Hi everyone.

I played Myth Of Soma in 2001. The only thing I remembered from this game was that purple armor with my halfmoon axe.

I read that Saturday there is gonna be an update.

Can anyone explain to me in details what does that +30 +50 means and can anyone here let me know the perfect path I should take when I reroll Saturday. Like what weapon to use from what Str to what Str. What monster to kill etc.

I know that Saturday it won't matter what monster you attack up until 86STR right? But what after that?

I know I have to equip a bow from the beginning but I would like a quick guide. Weapon to use. To what stats should I use them and what monster should I kill and at what point.

Kill anything as long as it has more STR than you. Upto 84 str where you will then hunt hoarde shanis

I recommend doing pure bow to around 150 str if doing melle char. Then axe to cap with optional more box later

You can see mobs str by searching armoury

My path will be and quickest in my opinion:

evil crawler: 19 str
scale raptor 32str
raptor 42str
trolls frost/forest 53str
devil warrior 79 str
warmess 84 str

The str listed is when you should leave


I think the +50 is to 84str only so you will have to find a tank for horde shanis after this. If the +50 is up to 90 str you can stay at mess until 90.

ye don't understand why the bonus is only upto 84 str, whats the point getting ppl to play to then force them to cliff or require a tank in order to stay on best gains ?

You can kill hoarde fine if hero 1 and they drop 50hp pots soon and relevant items for that level.

Also you dont have to kill them you can kill lesser mobs but will get less stats

Making lvling to easy is also not good for the game

the HOLE point ppl aint playing atm is cos they don't see the point to level a char for it to be trash if they ever get to cap, ppl returned all the time, yet soon as they find out the massive gab ever stat wise or item wise they feel like theres no point to continue

so there not going to level on lesser mobs to gain less stats, they will just stop playing

whats hard about levelling ? its just a boaring grind

to me having this 84str bonus drop off just makes me feel like not even bothering to begin with

Another point is that for me it wasn’t only the idea of losing +50 to make the game more accessible but to make it more fun in the sense that you can hunt the most diverse array of mobs possible since, as mentioned above, levelling is just a basically just a boring grind.

It obviously makes it a little more bearable when dealing with the maximum diversity in skins/locations and keeping the +50 at any str boundary just seems to cut against this.

Not that I expect Rome to be built in a day but whilst we’re on the topic, even with this step, in what seems like a positive direction, it does nothing to address the fact that you are penalised for levelling with anything but bow/axe or axe/mage.

I think that you have misunderstood what the patch will bring.

ALL mobs that have greater str than you will give you +50 stats without them having to have at least 50str more than you, this opens up the choices of what to hunt away from the very strictly proscribed current fixed path to build an optimised +50 char and dispenses with the need for a tank.

However, once you reach 84 str this stops and you then have to revert to a tank, as now. The intention is to make it easier for beginners to build a decent chr in the early stages without stats penalty.

You will not end up with a lessor chr as long as you always hunt mobs stronger than you up to 84str.

After that its business as usual up to cap giving you a fully +50 chr.

just feels like, the game just opens up, you get onto mobs that actuly start dropping upgrades/ items you need, and then you limiting them to hunting 1 set of mobs once more

sorry beach, was answering Kaz' post.

Changes cant all come at once - too much work to do that. Needs to be done in stages that are manageable.

It does essentially mean you'll get to 84str/dex then it's the same Hoarde / BLG rotation until 131str again. I very much appreciate the change but it means for anyone wanting a +50 char after 84 str, DF, Palus, LB, Mess, Ban, Cyclone Shanis all become redundant.

as someone who dosnt have a human

the 50+ bonus encourages me to start a human, but hearing its done at 84 str just basicly makes me feel like whats the point, I don't want to be force to the optimal level route, forgoing all the other mobs at that point

I don't want to level a tank up, to make multiple chars before I have a relevant char, bonus to 84 just a band aid to get ppl playing in the short term, until they relize they ever need a tank or ruinin there char, and then there gone again, and back where we are now

I personally agree, I think the whole +50 route was a mistake and has throttled the game a lot. but, hopefully, there will be further changes coming down the line...…...

Yeah - this is the point I was trying and perhaps didn’t quite get across.

Partially removing the +50 is no doubt a step in the right direction but why impose it at 84 str and just cut out all of these mobs and increase the tedium with fewer locations and skins being viable than if you just ditched it completely?
