"METHUSELAH"Could have guessed this was going to happen, mages jumping on the 'get some int' band wagon. Why couldn't you of got some dex? oh because that's not your build... well getting 120/150 int wasn't on my agenda when making my char and foolishly and accidentally I've capped meaning I'm stuck with my int, I could handle them range 1, doing the same that I did with normal mags, could do an hour or so with 1 pot run but now they bite from 2.6 million miles away. 20 mins, that's all i get before having to pot up. I struggled all through boars, now even worse at trolls due to my dex.. I'm not going to be creating a thread about it. Everyone wants easy street these days.

Before they changed to range 3 mages were complaining (rightly so) for being interrupted by their melee attacks, now they've changed to range 3 they are all of a sudden 'fine' because now mages can hunt them? Well low int melee chars are now complaining (rightly so) for being smashed from range 3 and range 1.
If it can only be one range or another we have to come up with another solution like a max dmg it can do or something because unless you are in a group or have a mage tank a solo player with low int/melee, might be put off.
Just an fyi, im happy with my build. A little annoyed that I've capped but it is what it is. I'm happy to get a tank or go with people or hit and run. Trying to think of others

I don't think its fair to compare lvling mobs with end game farm mobs. It is quite obvious in my eyes that hunting mags is alot easier for mages since mob automatically hits from range 3. If ur a knux user it will be a pain because other mags will have to start hit from range 3 since u cant lure them unless u use training bow or spells. Im quite sure mages have faster killing ratio and have longer hunts hence dont have to lure the same way or pot as much.

As a player with a mage I can tell u if I have 2 on me without spamming heal requires me to pot quite a bit they dont do 1 dmg I have 225 int and yeah I can tank 5 spamming heal but then I'm playing with to chars and that's the same as u going mags with other people or having a mage alt

"KAZOKU""PROWLER"Just turn off Range 1 magic attack.... I'm struggling to understand this. Why is this a problem for Elder mags when regular mags have used magic at range 1 since forever? Whats the difference? Obviously it hurts more as they are a more powerful mob.

Mags have always used int at range 1, the new mags are a bit stronger than the old ones so it's a bit more noticeable.
I don't think anything needs changing, everything should not be given on a plate especially since these have good drop rates |

Roch,
The problem is that "Range 1" magic attack has prevented (low int) melee from ever hunting them. That's fine if you say that is your choice with character build BUT the mobs are end game farming mobs with hugely generous drop files and drop rates. It wasn't "fine" with just Magmas (pre-Elders) but we all had to accept it. Now that Elders exist it deepens the imbalance with Mages able to farm Nega weapons and and low int chars unable to. If you are worried about Range 1 melee "just sitting there and camping" then increase the Range 1 melee attack (which doesn't affect mages). It's a pity the Range 1 magic attack cannot be turned off ... either we have to live with the ever increasing chasm of imbalance or please remove the Elders and limit the drop rate of normal Magmas to the same as those wasp things or Hellish trolls.

"PROWLER"Roch, If people didn't all min/max there wouldn't be the problem. It's 100% your own choice to not do int. Mags hurt with int, you know that when you build your char so you intentionally do it to yourself. If you're not a PvP char why do you need to min/max on str & dex anyway?

"PERISH"If people didn't all min/max there wouldn't be the problem. It's 100% your own choice to not do int. Again, if it were just that then fair enough. But it isn’t … Magmas were introduced as an end game mob for “parties” and then became end game farming mobs later with immense drop files and drop rates. People who chose “low int” were caught out and never had the choice prior to cap. The problem is exasperated with Elder Magmas. "PERISH" Precisely because I don’t PVP
