Morning ladies and gents, I am asking for your views on a staff aura, should new auras be added. I understand that guaranteed cast is controversial in hsoma, but would like to read your views, and what could be implemented in its place, should you dislike the idea of guaranteed cast. Every other weopon has an aura that deals damage. I'd like a staff aura to do the same. Possibly call it something like Overload. If you want wanted to get creative it could play into the proq system already in game whereby have it play like a passive aura and proq every X number of casts or % based.

The other weop auras add a nice variety to combat and this doesn't really need to be much different or overpowered.

Keep it simple, tweak the numbers good to go

My thoughts....as the whole glass cannon thing is a bit... simple and one ended... maybe like MickyC said, a support function would give it another dimension e.g aoe weapon debuff would be great, as suggested? Especially if castable to affect 8 tiles around a square. Could also make it remove any weapon auras perhaps?

Anything that's slows weap speed would be good, currently the only chance I have to cast is 5th axe. And that is if its 1v1 which rarely happens anyway. Come up against anyone with a well upped horn bow pvp is impossible, I tend to not even bother. 5th and run away.

A staff aura that has a 25% chance reflect damage to attackers based on MA could be interesting.

Players asking for something to slow? Am I missing something cause I could have sworn there’s a white spell called slow already in game.

If so why not just tweak the already existence of the white spell slow to affect the 8 squares around the casting player you could even extend its distance by x2 away?

When they say slow i think there on about somthing that slows movment speed down and not just attack spd

Is this hsoma only? If not dsoma doesnt have a slow spell, neither does a black mage in hsoma.....

What about an aura that can buff party members nearby or something, that could be cool

Or the equivalent of 4th staff from dsoma for both worlds but make it invisible so people dont auto run away/make it last x amount of casts

The people who moan about not wanting that aura in hsoma are the folk who dont go near int because they know uber fast bows shut a mage down, might even bring some diversity to hsoma and make folk put some effort in to levelling int as well ;D

remove proc from the game and then we can discuss about a staff aura because with all those 1 bangs that can happen its pointless to give them extra utility

Syonide, if new auras are added, then it is only natural that a staff aura would be added. Your statement is like a mage saying that new melee weapons should be capped at +5.

Weapons shouldn’t be capped at +5 nothing wrong with how it is now at +8.......

It’s the recoils of each weapon type that should be capped.
