Rome wasn’t built in a day......

Neither is Soma.

I find myself torn, in that I understand the reasons behind the other soma server and the good intentions behind all the players involved in this newer soma. Also the possibility in splitting the current user count over 2 server’s.

Yes it might make more sense in both parties getting together for the good of the game, for soma, for the players and for the future of soma.

I will say this, the players involved have shown amazing skill, they are focused, and they love the game myth of soma, and I believe any knocks will make them more focused and more determined I sincerely wish everyone of you the very best in your soma.

If players wish to try it out, I’m 100% sure you will be impressed with some of the features that I have had the pleasure of seeing beforehand.

Edit....

I still stand by what I said Manning, that ship map you showed me I still believe would be absolutely mint for a boss of some sort for abias map, or sub map within abias.

I’m going to go all out here, suspend me, ban me, but both server parties have the best interest of soma at heart, if I could I’d bang both parties heads together till you both seen sense. It all come down to “trust” both parties care, love soma, we all love this game sort it out, come together, work together and soma with fecking grow big time.

Appreciate the honesty Raven and I feel like there may have been some post edits so I’m not following the thread too well.

Personally I wouldn’t want to associate myself with this “new server”. For a multitude of reasons that aren’t worth mentioning for the purpose of support and impartiality.

But the key one being that I’m getting old and as I’ve been working on soma stuff since 2008. This is and always will be my only server/project.

What I will say is that anyone developing soma is a positive -
It’s been left to fin and I for some years and it’s good to see people trying to progress the game despite the noise around the execution.

Appreciate you posting here.

I think most of the players that have played and do still play this server that between the 2 of you (iSylver and Finito) can see and have seen the amount of work you both have done to this game over the original esoma.

I think we all know, not everyone is going to be happy whenever changes, tweaks etc are done and everyone always wants more.

You both have given plenty of your free time, energy and from what I can tell are still committed to this server.

The only reason I posted on this thread was, I know some of the players working on the other server, and I know they love this great game of soma just like the rest of us, there also putting in a lot of hard work, long hours and are like I previously said they impressed me with a lot of there work. It is a shame that for different reasons all can’t work together but I understand.

I didn’t post to send players over to the other server, I posted to give my opinion. It might not be for everyone, just like on this server. We all have different opinions on what soma is, how it should be, etc etc and I take my hat off to both servers for keeping this great game of soma alive.

Well put, it's exciting seeing something new but I don't know how much the game can really be revived, and hands down this server is what esoma should have been in the 1st place!

I joined the new team firstly out of curiosity and then got caught up in it all.

I liked what I saw and the way that they were going and felt that I had something to offer to help them achieve it.
What we are building I would call “Soma II” the logical next evolution of the original game; moving it forwards while trying hard to keep to the original “manga feel” to it.

For me personally – and I have been playing soma on and off since the early days after watching it on the Game Network TV channel – and having committed God knows how many hours time to it both in playing and in actively supporting it in my own ways – I was getting bored and felt that it needed a step-change to revive it.

I think that Dan and Fin have done some great work and should be commended for keeping the game running for so many years, but I also think that they do not have the free time to do much more than they already are and I have personally seen a marked reluctance to accept help, advice or suggestions from outside…..

Exodus currently has a wide range of skilled developers, (we even have a professional software QA man on the job too :P ), graphical artists, 3D animation gurus and tens of thousands of in-game player hours experience to draw on. So, an active team in double figures who are all committed to making it all work.

There is no need for us to “make peace” as we are not at war :P

What we will be offering is our take on Soma that we hope moves it all forwards with new and exciting content, regular updates and a whole raft of new stuff to make the game exciting again.

well...good luck Micky .. just saying from a personal perspective , spent way too much time to change now, but wish u and ur team the best.

Was the bit on ur forum that put me off trying.. '' we won't ban players unless absolutely necessary ''
You said that was open to discussion, but that was the dark icing on the cake tbh..

Let's hope 2 servers can run in tandem and both be successful.

Does your GM or whoever created the new server respond to personal messages or anything like that? Or just seen mode aswell all the time?

we will have several GMs and intend to have a reasonable in-game presence. I am sure - unless they get swamped will messages then - that they will respond to you while they are in-game,

If you have an issue or a question, then there will be "GM Call Boards" situated in towns where you can leave a message and someone will get back to you.

Surely if LND just traded someone who had done something with dodgy barr then he should be unbanned by now?

I don't understand these decisions honestly. Struggled with the COCODABEAST ban also. It's hard to stay positive about the game with these kind of things going on.

Would also like to add whoever reported Coco for that afk bric quest (changing brics to dionaea skin), you need to take a look at yourself. Everyone has done that quest afk, chances are if you log on at a random time you will see someone doing it.

Just wanted to get that off my chest as it's been annoying me for a while :)
