This damage is a bit silly for a Valour Wep

Honestly it makes the proccess of getting it not worth it at all...


All the Valour Scrolls
All the Diamonds to make SS's (Some will fail)
240 Skill (I'm still not 250 for the most damage)
The risk to upgrade it to a decent speed.

All this so I can do 100 damage per hit in a world were we now have 150HP pots and 200HP pots...
This change really makes no sense at all I'm sorry...

Once an arrow leaves the string, the mass of the arrow continues to have a significant effect beyond determining the initial velocity. F=ma (Force=mass*acceleration). In archery terms, this simple equation states that the force slowing the arrow down (mainly air resistance) is proportional to the mass of the arrow and how quickly it slows down.

Couldn't find an explanation for magic range reduction on google.

now do the same "test" range 2, let me know how it goes.

Arrows achieve velocity as the bow is drawn (energy added by the archer) then released (energy transferred from the bow limbs through the string and to the arrow.) At the instant an arrow leaves the string, there is no longer a force pushing and accelerating the arrow. Once the arrow is in flight, the only outside force acting on it that affects its speed and power is the air resistance slowing it down called the drag. The total amount of drag on an arrow is a factor of the shape of the arrow, the speed of the arrow and the density of air. Because there is no thrust or anything else to power the arrow’s flight after leaving the string, the drag alone will determine the arrow’s deceleration over the remainder of the flight.

Cherry picked bullshit as per usual, give the whining a rest you little weasel.

The change makes complete sense, move closer if you want to do more damage - it’s called risk/reward.

Can I just say also, yous can’t say as if I am bringing these issues up to benefit myself because I was also talking about making Sword and Axe more desirable.

I broke the bow yesterday trying to upgrade it too :). But is okay, it’s not like I was doing decent damage to anyone :(.

No weap should have range speed and damage, one of the best changes to happen since server started

Might get flamed for this but ...

In real life no one fires a bow at zero range (melee) AND a melee counter attack would disrupt a bow user's ability to load and fire an arrow (just like a mage on Soma).

If it is "reality" that is being reflected here in Soma, the reduction on bow damage would be relatively insignificant at the range the OP was stood and virtually impossible (without mega impressive dexterity) to fire at range 1 at all.

I have only been back in the game for about 10 days after a year+ break so I am very late in the conversation regarding mitigated damaged from a ranged bow. I have seen numerous folk rationalising this with "real life" and even seen a scientific explanation on this forum to support that mitigation.

I apologise if I have not understood correctly.

There is no need to be rude and insulting.

Also, could you use proper words so that I can understand what you are saying please?

Range 1-2 bow does 100% damage thereafter it drops 10% damage every 1 range. Love that talking about real life on a role play game. Role play game, who'd a thought it would be like real life.

I was repeating what I have seen in the many threads about this subject. Like I said, I missed most of it.

So, if bow damage reduces 10% every range 1, why doesn't a mage cast do the same?

I don’t understand why they’re trying to change Game mechanics when there’s hardly any pvp in the game.

Honestly I’ll repeat myself I have a fully geared proc mage so I don’t care either way but it’s a shame bow has been shat on so hard since the very start of this server for being “op”

Stop making shit characters and blaming it on the game mechanics lads, you made the choice when you made your 98 dex 250 INT 238 STR chars…. You should be held accountable for being hit at 100% rate and if you cry and moan about damage well go make a dex mage.

I don’t get it at all.

No one likes the change (that actually plays the game on a daily basis)
