ISYLVER [Staff] |
Right,
I welcome freedom of speech and everything. But soma players are using terrible language and just plainly making the game look like it's full of idiots on the forum. Please be mindful of your words. As for the server status. Yes, we will be moving server. No we don't need you to contribute to it. Finally. I don't care what goes on outside the game or the forum it's not my jurisdiction. Once you've created a character you always own that character regardless if you multi or give it away. One click of a button and it's back to being yours. We are hoping for Wednesday to get the server up and running again on a new host. Thank you for your patience and mind your language.

I find your view on this matter absolutely absurd, a player has caused so much damage by doing something that should be against the rules and nothing is being done about it. Fair enough your can't police everything and what happens behind closed doors stays there.
But this is different you know damn well he sold the character and stole it back. I've seen bans been given out for so much less. Sigh I want to see some justice.

How can you steal something that isn't property? Is there something in the terms and conditions that denotes that a character is your Property? Is there something in the rules that suggests that once a character is sold it becomes the buyers property? Is there any written contract between each party involved that implies ownership? Do you have to declare your character SORN if you leave it inactive?

There was obviously a verbal/written contract between these two adults that should be honoured. I'm coming from a moral stand point. How can you not see that?
Someone bought something and has had it taken from them. Now someone is running around with the guys money. I see nothing in the terms and conditions about the account being property of somadev. But let's not get technical it's beside the point. Someone agree to something and sold his character which should be a violation of some sort. Especially when it ends like this. All characters sold or bought should be banned if proof/evidence is there. If this was blizzard the account would be long gone

what good would a ban do at this point?
i am not playing devils advocate here, i surmised a bit of info by reading the previous posts, and suffered as much as anyone at the attack on the server, however any ingame punishment is a moot point as the damage done was not IN the game. unless there is a sure-fire 100% way to protect the server from such onslaughts in the future, any act of aggression against the transgressor will only result in further server downtime. now agreed this makes it seem as tho players and GMs are in a position of weakness, unless as mentioned in the previous thread legal action can be taken against the DEFINITIVE culprit (IP Address, not baseless accusations). GMs need to define a way to deal with mutli-characters that lead to problems. the concept of multi-ing in itself is not damning, but it needs to be regulated.

It's setting a bad example, he's pretty much saying feel free to sell your character and then scam people and take it back .
How can selling your account not be a violation on this server but it's an instant perm ban on EVERY other mmo. We have to punish those who deserve it regardless of repercussions it's damaging to the server. I don't even know the guys involved but I feel his pain. I'm just losing faith and it's a shame it's things like this that kills games. Especially when the community sees it going unpunished. But whatever the big man had spoken. Everyone's lost out, community hasn't been able to play it's caused everyone grief including dan and Charles and probably even had to spend money. Yet Zyzz is running around ingame laughing with money in his pocket

Don't need a written contract for something to be legally binding.

Rofl at people just crying for bans, to ban someone to must have proof that money exchanged hands, which i'm assuming Isylver doesn't, therefore without proof he can't just go banning everyone left right and center that he hears that someone has sold their character. Same with someone selling items.
Montel's right, you can't steal something that originally "belonged" to you, it's called reclaiming for a reason. Anyone who's stupid enough to buy a character sets themselves up for it being reclaimed and wasting hours/days/££££

"URMUM"It's setting a bad example, he's pretty much saying feel free to sell your character and then scam people and take it back . Good, we need a case like this to scare potential traders of. Whats a better scare tactic then 'lose your money gain nothing'? Also Blizzard is part of the biggest gaming corporation in the world. Let's not compare ourselves to them as we are a 2 man team + an advisor. Also we have no real legal foot to stand on ourselves as there's no real EULA for this game. I typed the rules out myself, there's nothing in there about characters trading but if it pleases the communty and the staff I could add: "Somadev owns your characters. Not you.'

People calling for a specific ban of the Zyzz account are deluded. Your like an angry mob holding him responsible for the ddos attacks lol.
Murders have occurred as a consequence of a partner cheating. Doesn't mean you hold the cheater responsible for murder because you can't catch the murderer lol. Cheating isn't illegal, neither is recalling an account. Basically, stop moaning. You wont get what you want.

Ghostlord you say this is a good scare tactic for making people not buy chars but you are supporting those who want to sell it and scam people.
Reclaiming an account isn't 'illegal' but selling one CERTAINLY should be Anyway I'm done the whole situation is a joke and it's going unpunished. The servers just going to keep losing good players while the cheaters flourish.
