i quit cause I couldn't be bothered with nightmares or doin melee anymore I got to lvl 80+ and I just couldn't be bothered to keep it up from the start of the server till xmas I hammered it but since then I just lost all motivation

I left at lvl 60 a long ass time ago i got sick of the grind, sick of GVWs where the outcome was same every week and mainly sick of INT completely dominating and as a mainly melee based character i gave up. I still read forums now and again so come up with some new incentives and send em out in a mass email. Maybe i'll pack in the PS4 for Soma, doubt it though.

Personally it was the level cap that made me quit even though I never hit it on Acaelus. Once we got to 85ish I knew the scope to 'get ahead' was gone. And for me thats whats soma is all about. The super hardcore want to stay ahead of the hardcore, the hardcore want to stay ahead of the semi casual an the semi casual want to stay ahead of the casual etc etc.

I'm sure if I kept playing Acaelus would of capped not long after Plum and I would of just immediately quit like he did, so what was the point? Before long the 'hardcore' will catch you up and you might as well be playing cod or something as your all on a similar playing field. The point of soma has been bled out once everyone is 100, you may as well restart the server.

Cater the game to the casuals and you lose your hardcore+ players. Thats what happend to warcraft after BC.

Just my opinion :P

Interesting thread, and i think all that has been said has been on-topic, albeit on slight tangents.

Here are the solutions as i see it:
-Remove level cap - this needn't be here.
-Increase the rate in which rested exp is gained or have weekly double (or triple) exp zones. Or better still: double the rates in conti only (acts as an incentive for owners)
-finally, increase drop rates considerably.

The final point is interesting because it changes the dynamic from requiring to hunt exclusively for stats and exp, to instead more of a reward to play system. MORE drops boost our reward system in our brain leaving us hedging our bets for more drops to drop.

Fact is, there needs to be more of an incentive in the game other than hunting to improve stats. Think about it, why is it that we love seasonal events? Because there are more drops and rewards available!

Lets Increase drop rates, remove level cap, and have double exp events set by the GM for 1 hour a time or by an automated time.

Not sure about the other stuff, but this could be interesting. Perhaps not double the rates but maybe a system whereby hunting in conti doesn't decrease rested exp as you hunt? Would be a big boost to those doing int at NM's certainly as running out of rested is only really an issue on int.

I personally enjoy the level cap and wouldn't want it raised any time soon, if at all. Currently no two capped chars in game are the same. Currently each char has advantages and disadvantages over every other char, it really is how i should be. If level capped was raised, everyone would inevitably end up on the same stats which would be boring.

Disagree there tbh ... like we all havent eneded up with same stats now.. a level cap would increase the difefrences in stats rather than equalise them... in your case master mage gets more int...... and someone else mayb with mele gets more str/ dex........... the int/ mele gap gets wider, and provides even more stat differences... ;)

I'd prefer the cap to stay at 100 atm for a while not because im so far behind xD but it shows who spent the most time doing what cba with another server where its everyone has 200 dex and its a race to 500+ str using axe only

The biggest problem for me is also the requirement to have to use healers. I do not want to duel screen with a healer, but if i hunt lower lvl mobs i am not making a competitive character for endgame. This has completely demotivated me for levelling. Enjoy the game and enjoy the server tho, but this has reduced my game time dramatically.

could always start by reducing the offensive dex of all mobs scaling from -1off dex to -10 depending on what mob it is. :)
