Molten Meltdown discussion

Author Content Date
If you hit a Molten Whelp (Small one) before it targets you, it won't explode.

Make the Molten spawn slightly more condensed and add another monster that has low hp that instantly casts zombie with a 3-5 second cooldown timer (Hsoma only). With the more condensed spawn it will mean more healers are needed as at the moment 1 person with slow/heal is more than enough to cover 1 Magma on it's own. Add bar drops to the new zombie monster with a similar rate to BLG with 3-4k apc , this will pay for resi's from the inevitable rape.

Change Whelps so they have a 3 second timer before they target you, decrease their range but increase their movement radius. People are getting raped from off the screen and there's nothing they can do about it. Frustrating doesn't cover it

Also add so if someone die's by a Whelp within X radius, all the Whelps explode as people are literally getting spawn killed and wasting dozens of resi's.

Magma Beast Lord gets bugged when surrounded and won't do AOE attacks. This isn't just this boss, Gorshak is exactly the same.

Remove the HP bar from the Magma's, people just time their 4ths for drops.

Do these mobs give stats? What kind of level for them?

They don't give stats, suggested level to hunt them is 100 with about 4 or 5 friends.

all seems good.. but whelps need calming down a bit ( maybe) tbh.. insta death when rushed from offscreen seems a bit harsh ..cant afford all those rezzies
Some very nice new quests :)

After an hour with a sizeable group, 8 resi's down on top of 10% penalty...I'd say there is potential for it to be good but some changes need to be made otherwise I can't see many people hunting them.Luckily I'm capped so penalty doesn't bother me at all.

Some observations and a recommendation that I think would make the experience better (note the below is all from hsoma POV):

- Change whelps to 50% damage when exploding rather than auto one hit kill everyone. One hitting in addition to their speed and range is far, far too OP. Accidentally run into two of them? Depending on your morale you're around 50-60k down and theres nothing you can do about it. That's far too harsh IMO. Reduced damage and range would make them bearable, but still a challenge

- Currently close combat melee chars are very, very succeptible to the whelps. Unless you're a mage or bow char then you're hopeless. I get this comes into the teamwork ethos, but again it feels way too harsh to me.

Like I said I think there is potential for it to be good but I feel it needs some tweaking. The whelps healing the beasts is a nice touch.

on dsoma they are hardly dropping...

and the mobs are too strong, theres not enough people online at 1 set time to get a decent group to hunt them

the exploding mobs are smart but a tad to quick if youve got a slightly bad connection,

Currently 1mil down and 5% penalty lol..Huge barr sink hole

The drop rate amounts to the same for both races. As for the whelps we make them slightly easier.

The dsoma boss dies far too quickly and has been fixed for the next reboot.

Oh also hasra quests should now be fixed.

The little suicide bomber whelps make me laugh. XD
Would it be possible to make them a different colour to the magus though? I crap myself every time a little guy charges in and go for the one hit kill but it's usually a
Magus ;op

loving the mobs i must say!

but i do feel they need to be more range 1 melee friendly, atm the best/fastest way to kill them is with a couple of mages as they can do decent chunks of damage.

id also like to see their 5th axe changed to maybe 3rd axe so atleast when the stunlock you 3 times in a row (-,-) you can actually still hit them.

great patch though

Love the new mobs and the new AI stuff - hunting them almost feels like pvp

IMO there shouldnt be too much nerfing going on, I think people just really aren't used to actually having to properly use teamwork - I think it's cool that you pretty much need an archer with you to take out the whelps and you need healers (not just pocket healers who will die) to be able to hunt these

I think the 'exploding within x radius' idea from orig post might be a nice idea though and also maybe a slight skin colour change for each mob would be cool

For teamwork you actually need a team, the slight issue here is dsoma isn't the most active of places especially those qualified to actually hunt these things.

Also to touch on the point ceo made, how close combat characters deal with the whelps needs to be looked into if I run into more than one it's -25k. I struggle to even deal with one.

+1 and seen as dsoma class's are mainly melee

main issue for dsoma is most ppl stoped at wbm stage( myself included) , once the exp starts to slow and I'm only getting 10% on my day off, it starts becoming a boar, I can ignore the exp if theres something to aim for, the quest for 1000 wbm kills helped, but that's finish, drops are far between

as for the new mobs, there to far off for me, just getting to them the whelps killed me twice

as for my mage, you cant just watch tv with a mage, so I feel the exp slowdown even more, Mana pot prices per MP is silly, so u end up with medium mp pots, which u then have to pot 15 times to fill mp
