clarification on soft cap (dex)

So who wins? Mages who get 4/5 frogs a day for evasion.... Would be a no contest. Like belka says, the whole server will be axe and staff - exciting stuff....

I understand mages posting in here wanting the same dex etc. but we'd end up in a Pavv situation for those that remember that far back, the guy had 100% evasion (not saying anyone would have 100% evasion here btw just an EXAMPLE) and ridiculous int for that particular time back then, think only Consti was close with nowhere near the dex/str/items.. But I hope you see my point? Lets use fujitora as an example, has upgrades, will continue to get more, near the top int (i think? switched from dsoma so dont quote again lol) so if dex is soft capped, the mages will have a field day and alot of players are forced into something, free choice please! Whole idea of 'editing' european soma was it not?

Not a dig at you fuji i just know you have good int and shout alot for upgrades so i used as an example.

I myself am pure bow and knuckle, why? because I enjoy it, don't put me and others at a disadvantage and force me into using a training axe.. please :P

This does need a GM clarification and probably should of been asked before hand so people can plan accordingly otherwise there will be alot of unhappy campers, may explain why Style(s) stopped leveling and moved onto ceo_008 if he's hit dex softcap?


It still works the same as the test server, I'm quite sure of that.

Also I don't think it's a problem if humans didn't get a chance to cap all their stats, I'd even go as far as saying it's a good thing. Not all devil class should be able to get the STR cap either hopefully.

To investigate this further I'm planning on making some stat projections for lvl 100 chars through guesstimates and old / new information.

Thanks Ghost - Is it possible to request the lvl 100 pure class stats from Finito? I know he released a sword one, it might prove helpful if we could see a pure bow or pure knuckle one to see the dex? Not sure if that'd give us anymore insight into it.

For my own humour I was shocked when I was told Style has hit 100 dex. Then i remembered iSylver posting some hours played in another thread. Some people had 1300?

So 1300/24 = 54.16 days online

Server online 31 August? So online for 112 days.

These characters have played 54/112 days possible, which quite frankly is disgusting. If you continue you raise caps early the MAJORITY of the server may as well not bother.

Thats not what shatter means. I think he means that the cap should not be raised this early on.

The game only gets slower the stronger you become, resulting in it being easier to close the gaps.

1 hour at level 60 will be more rewarding than 1 hour at level 90.

As such, this gap in power and playtime will only shrink if people keep playing at a steady rate.

Raising the cap will have no impact on the game as long as everyone keeps playing.

I know that style is still gaining dex and how long with each weapon. Its fine as it is for now.

Surely the point of the soft cap is never to raise it. Otherwise you're just punishing the players that got there first and ground through it. Like Sorc said it actually helps people close the gap. If he levels for 1300 hours, you should have to do the same to get the same stats.

I don't even think there's anything to raise.

However it worked on ESoma - it was either a myth or a misunderstood game mechanic. I've even heard several version of this 'soft cap'. It's quite simple. It's very slow after 95 just like any other stat. If anything would be raised it would be the amount of slowdowns in gains after 100.

It's not like Finito & iSylver sat down and made dex shit after a certain stats.

Sorry if i come over a bit crossed, just had a tooth pulled.

Thats the point I think, in esoma it was commonly known that dex would effectively be ridiculously slow at 100.0+ in a sense that i remember seeing screenshots toward the end of the game that fleshtuh had like 112 dex or so.. whereas on test server it would be able to be raised to MUCH higher..

Not sure if it was a real screenshot btw, just saying.

Or alternatively, increase the dex softcap and turn everybody to bow. Because unless you can hit someone your str is irrelevant.

There is a level cap, let that be what helps players catch up. Capping one stat just makes no sense.
