long have i been talking about this server with my fellow guild members and we have came up with a fine conclusion (probably not in the best interests of GM's) about how to help the server as a whole, all GM's have their own lives and personal commitments just like everyone else, they put "ALOT" into this server and they really don't need to, the upgrades and new expansions they bring is all through their hard work which comes totally free of charge because they want to provide the best server they can... im all for donations and subscriptions to provide for the server as much as possible.. the more donations (due to no subscription service being implemented at the time), the better.

in my honest opinion if you brought in a subscription, it would give gm's a reason to keep putting the time and effort into the server - i know they do now but every little helps; if say the user count is 500+ players - paying £2 a month - that is 12000 A YEAR (a substantial total and well worth the time put in) to bring us a an ever growing server - £24 a "YEAR" to play soma :) , therefore the server would grow and the GM's would feel they are being rewarded for their dedication for our enjoyment!

i would like to hear opinions on this

Id pay £24 up front to play soma for a year, its fuck all for the amount of hours you get. Even if it did become pay to play you could just say its free till level 40, then you're permanently on rested exp till you pay again, so people can still access their characters/talk to people etc. Could implement this to all levels if wanted

I was thinking of starting a donation thread... i bought a shout scroll a while back. And might donate a bit of money soon as i enjoy the game.

well said, ide even pay £5 a month to play tbh, payed it when i was 16, ill pay it now, the gms obviously dont do this for the money, but for the love of the game, but ide say a monthly subscription would soften the blow of the shit they have to deal with ;] x

Have given donations before and would certainly be happy to pay to play £5 a month seems fair for a main account over level 40, not sure if gms could activate the old subscription system and get it to work through paypal or whatever method they choose.

£5 a month subscription

Seperate donation bar on the front page of the site or somewhere we can all view it toward a 'patch fund' or 'expansion fund' to do something like Gorshak, new weapons etc. based on a poll of what the users want to see most + what the GMs want to see, both should get input imo.

The £5 a month sub can go to iSylver/Finito for their time fixing bugs/doing small patches/events etc.

Pop things into the donation store:

- Ability to change your aura colour
- Armour dye
- Skill reducer (down to 0)
- Gender change

I would also pay a small fee every month, It would help motivate the GM's to carry on the good work they have done over the many years. We must remember that we are the real winners in the end, because we get a great game that never stops moving forwards!!!

Great idea in principle.

I am also for the idea of "donation" targets.

But putting my business hat on, I feel that having a subscription service, no matter how little and the reasons behind doing it would create problems legally for Dan and Finito? Genuinely I am not sure about it, but i think when you run subscription games and things there are hoops ect ect you need to jump through. Maybe that isn't worth their time.

Not to be a negative Nelly, but I guess I will

Imagine how whiny and demanding we players would/could be if
"I'm paying for this service!"

just saying...
