I'm all for the 12 hour a day level caps, yeah the downside is that the certain character in reference may just start another character and end up with a few very strong characters.
positives of a daily time limit: Competitive server Higher user count Less people giving up because they are looking at a character (or characters) online 18-24 hours a day. Its impossible to police multis so how about thinking of another route? cater to the single players or the casual player, not completely but to a degree of course, not so the casual player can be #1 of course im not saying that but the time limit would help immensely.

Also pretty apparent that once the chinese players got onto this server, i.e. Style and Mr_Perfect they were hardly to be casual players, lets be real here and consider every other server they've been on, sorry to single out players and chinese players etc. but its definitely true, people pk them now but give it a few months and they'll be griefing those people back, simple.
Time limit cap is a better solution

Would 12 hours suit your schedule? Would it allow you to keep up? What about the people who have 3 hours to play or 1 hour? How do we cater for them? A 1 hour time limit? Think of esoma "high levels". How many do you genuinely believe were solo? Most of the actual high levels I knew were multi. I get the whole oh they make pvp at gvw hard etc but its always been part of soma. Pavv probably stood on stone more than any other char made. He wasn't solo either... Also as a side note - if you don't want PKd by a multi later in game then don't grief them now. If some prick griefs me now and I see I am stronger later I am sure I can return the favour.

How is 12 hours a day casual for anyone but the unemployed and socially inept? Not specifically targeting you in my posts despite quoting you ... twice. Merely pointing it out that its not something that can really be rectified. Its only since the pservers started that people became so engrossed as to who is #1. Boycott them and everything they do. Sell them nothing - don't include them in your game etc. But as for policing people's playing style - it cant really be done. EDIT** i mean style of play not the char ;d

I'm just saying that 12 hours is a good number, yeah if anyone is either of those things its not for me to decide or limit their time to 2-5 hours my thoughts are purely to limit the 24 hour players that we are seeing. They don't need to be sold anything because these particular players kill the mini bosses more often than not. just saying.

Sorry, just to say again, I absolutely know for a fact a ton of the esoma HIGH end characters were multis but what im saying is that the time limit caters for the casual'ish player, to each his own but what people don't want is someone on for 24 hours a day, and if we have the facilities to police that then why not? eSoma we couldnt limit people being on for 24 hours or whatever, here we can, so lets think of a viable solution or we're going to be faced with a problem later on.

"IRNBRU" A 84 hour weekly time cap wouldn't be benefiting anyone in particular. It would literally only stop multis from playing 24/7. This would not effect a single solo player. I cannot think of a single good reason not to implement it. Only pros, no cons. Think of esoma "high levels". How many do you genuinely believe were solo? Most of the actual high levels I knew were multi. I get the whole oh they make pvp at gvw hard etc but its always been part of soma. Pavv probably stood on stone more than any other char made. He wasn't solo either... The arguement that "it has always been like this" just doesn't make any sense. That isn't a reason that something shouldn't change. As people have already pointed out in this thread, just because something has been a certain way for x amount of time doesn't mean it can't be improved.

If iSylver can do it then I don't see why he wouldn't implement a 12 hour time limit to help the server as a WHOLE and not continue to help the small group of players on literally 24 hours a day.

There is nothing "casual'ish" about 12 hours.
There's nothing "casual'ish" about 4 hours either if you work full time etc. There is no time limit you can implement that will suit everyone. Say I was some soma nutter and could manage 3 hours a day. I then want to do 36hours at the weekend. Why shouldnt I be able to do that? Lets say I work on the oil rigs. I am offline for 3 weeks and want to use my 2 weeks off to beast soma 20 hours a day. Why shouldn't I be able to do that. A time limit is not the answer.

Keeping an eye on characters and booting them that way isnt the answer either, I could work away for a living just like I know a few old school esoma players do and literally every other day they'd be in another travel lodge or somewhere

"IRNBRU" Explain how an 84 or 112 hour weekly cap wouldn't suit everyone. Who would this not suit? The only players effected would be hardcore multis.
After playing 3 hours a day Mon through Friday you will have only played 15 hours. You would still have 69 hours left for Friday and Saturday. There are only 48 hours in these two days. So yes...you would be able to do that.
Unrealistic hypothetical. You are not going to be playing 20 hours a day for 7 days.

The only way to solve every single problem is whats been in games since the start....a lower lvl cap then raise it progresivly...
If the lvl cap started at 40 then everyone would get to a point then raise it another 20-30 lvls. it will stop 10 people ruling the entire server being totally untouchable by everyone else. That way gvw would be awesome! so would pking and people would even have guild wars. I remember guild wars we had like 25 people vs 1 player...and we'd still lose just cos in soma...higher = don't even bother trying theres no skill involved its just if your stronger you can't be killed by weaker people even if they work in large numbers we'll all be doing 1hp a hit... The problem with soma is the lvl cap is waaaaaaaaaaay to high. And because its such a slow lvling game its almost designed to be "multi friendly" ...while people who play how your suposed to get shafted. In other games you might get ganked by a pk...but when you hit the same cap as them you can get them back or even gang up on them...in soma...if you get ganked by a pk..there is absolutly nothing you can do about it as you will never no matter how long you play be able to kill them and they will just kill and kill and kill you. And dying in soma is a big deal... Add a lower lvl cap and keep it there for a good while so people can achieve it otherwise you just open up the game for multis and no one else. Most games its easy to lvl and the effort comes from trying to get the best gear to make you stronger...in soma its allways been 100% about stats you get simply from grinding...if you can take people on naked...and they are fully armed...then a good lvl cap is required in such a game.
