"KOVARAS"a level cap will not sort things out

1> they can still level int
2> they would gain rested xp
3> they would level up other characters just as fast
4> they could farm bosses while doing this
5> once they have enough top end multis 1 or 2 could be used for mass pking

1- ye ok
2- Not a big deal
3- So a multi lvls up 2 characters, sounds good to me...
4- they will farm bosses anyway?
5- think it through,,. capped level poor point

3- So a multi lvls up 2 characters, sounds good to me... ---- So mults have many chars at max level all gaing rested waiting for cap increase.
4- they will farm bosses anyway? i suppose but made more important by a cap
5- think it through,,. capped level poor point --- if a multi gets max level, gvw is won every time. he can only level int. is mass pking as a option really unrealistic?

when the solution is creating more problems than the problem is it really worth considering?

dont try and punish multis.. try and reward normal players

without reading all the pages i dont know if its been said or not but maybe just maybe there could be away of capping the top say 20 players so they cant gain stats but maybe keep crafting stat and being able to obv hunt for items or ess ect untill say the next 30 players ket near to there stats then they can carry on that way you would see a good fight in gvw or wotw and there wont be any 1 hitting noobs like myself

like someone said on page 1 or 2 if we only play 5/6 hours a day how are we ment to even compete agaisnt the higher levels also you could make it so the lower players cant be griefed in the time that the higher levels have off

i know theres going to be some flaming going on about this post but i bet a good amount of people might aggree with me

"ISYLVER"Theoretically let's say we put in a 65 level soft cap.

The people who 65 will then.

A) Farm low mobs for items
B) Go on a PK spree harassing the lower levels.
C) Moan that they can't level any more.
D) Skill entirely until they hit the auras.
E) Gain con
F) Gain int.

They would also be gaining rested exp.

A) Absolutely nothing wrong with that, its better they farm gear and become slightly better equipped than be 20 levels ahead of eveyrone else and have the majority of people do 1 dmg to them lol...

B) Currently it will be tough for anyone to be devil moral, yes this may cause a slight problem, but at this point in the servers life where people are leveling still, i doubt anyone would be willing to go devil (Please no events where SP / HW drop every 5 mins and become generally worthless, that going devil becomes meaningless) - Alternatively remove the cap on how deep into devil you go, so if you constantly pk, there is no going back without severe hard work to gain moral

C) Let them moan...

D) At this point a certain multi has already hit the skill cap so this is not really a problem... and even if they didnt i dont see how having slightly higher weapon will be too much of an issue

E) Again slight non issue, most normal people will have 18/2 con anyway, If they wish to gain 1/2 hp more per level by getting to 26/30 con then so be it, again this is better than having unstoppable chars running around... And everone will get around to doing con at some point so it will balance out...

F) How can people gain int if they are level capped? (i didnt even nkow that was even possible lol) Although if it is possible to make the game so that you cant gain str at cap then i guess its possible to prevent this...

Also someone mentioned people at cap will gain rest bonus... At most they will gain 100% rest bonus, this really isnt a big deal, its only 1 level, and im sure by the time the cap is raised again, most of the people at the cap should have near thi amount....

Someone also mentioned multis starting new chars... so what? This is great? They will have 2 capped chars rather than one ridiculously overpowered character...

As previously stated somewhre here, most / if not all modern games revolve around GEAR and not level or stats, Simply so that as long as you are at or near the level cap you can still compete with anyone no matter how good their gear is, since you effectively have the same stats... Yes you may say this is Soma, but if you want the server to survive in the long term, and have no hope of new players catching up, or having multing simply dominate down the line, then implementing a level cap seems to be the most reasonable solution.

Maybe we should have a poll function on the forum, and put it to the people to see what they want.

Like 2% of the community multi so implanting something that effects everyone seems a little unfair imo, they don't bother me what so ever, i assume they are targeting to be the strongest and good luck to them but putting in something that effects us all is silly.

if this was to me i know what your saying but its not really fair to us low levels that they play for like 10+ hours when we are only playing 4/5/6 hours a day im hope you can see where im coming from

How will it effect everyone?, only the 2% are likely to reach the cap, and be stopped there, and once a few others are caught up the level cap will be increased again, if anything, it is helping "less hardcore" players like you and I be able to play competitively...

I dont really understand what your point is...

As long as we don't hit a wall and stuck with nothing to do what ever, but i can't imagine what the cap would be considering some of the devil levels at the moment.

Out of curiosity, what level do you think "some of the devils" are right now?

How about this...

Instead of implementing a level cap, reduce the gains per mob.

Perhaps grouping various mobs into bands depending on the stats you can hunt them

80-90 str/int
90-100 str/int etc

Within those bands cut the exp and stats gained to something like
Pre 80- x2
80-90 x1.75
90-100 x1.5
100-110 x1.25
Anything above x1

Obviously people may just stick to the pre 80 mobs but I guess this will mean too much exp for stats and with a level 100 cap would be detrimental to the char.

With this players would have the opportunity to catch up to a certain point. While the hardcore amongst us can still gain stats and exp only at a slower rate. However with the hours put in they will still stay ahead.

Now to counter the catch up and the idea that time invested should equal being a top player, agreed. That's why I also suggest these rates are increased by .25 every month until the x1 mobs are back to their intended x2.

While my rates and increase might be off, 4 months of the above would probably bring a lot of players into a position where they do not lose interest and can complete with the majority or the player base.

At the same time, while I can appreciate the slow down to x1 may put high levels off, I don't think anyone who can play16 hours a day will get put off.

I vote that something needs to be done. Esoma was a very long term server that had caps associated with items not levels. It always made casuals feel like they could keep up and participate in the weekly events.

Already casuals are unable to compete in these events and it is getting further out of hand week by week. If you want this to be a long term server then something needs to be implemented.

People will complain an say multis have always been part of soma. Well esoma did not start with all the high lvl spells and weapons we have today. Just creates a bigger gap that will be harder to close the longer it is left.

I have played every day since release but am casual. I am so far behind and months from achieving a 4th aura. Ppl are way beyond this already. It won't be long and I will predict a lot of casuals giving up unfortunately. Personally I'm in it for the long run but I know there are a lot out there getting frustrated.

All a level Cap is going to do is lower the user count. all because certain players want to be able "be the best" on the server and get pissed off that they cant catch up. we cant afford to lose the community... lose the community and you lose the game.

How exactly does this work...?

If anything a level cap will allow more players to play at a competitive level, and therefore have more incentive to actually play and level, compared to say having a few characters who are simply miles ahead of the rest, people will just realise they have no chance and simply not bother.

Do you think someone who invested 20 hours a day for 6 months, is going to quit playing because their level was capped for 1/2 months? I really dont think so... They can still level con / craft / farm gear / improve their characters in other ways during this time...

Yup, exactly what i think will happen, seen it happen before. either that or they take half a month off. so eitherway the user count gets hurt.
