Multis and new players

"CAPPILIO""Do you think someone who invested 20 hours a day for 6 months, is going to quit playing because their level was capped for 1/2 months? "

Yup, exactly what i think will happen, seen it happen before. either that or they take half a month off. so eitherway the user count gets hurt.

Would you rather 2% of the playerbase stopped playing for 1/2 months or 98% indefinately?

No brainer. I think I play this game an awful lot, my gf thinks I play even more than that. I am way off what people have acheived already.

By that Logic, everyone below level 60 / 70 stopped playing esoma?
it didnt stop people enjoying the game and playing then, why would it now?

Absolutely nothing needs to be done, there is already a catch-up mechanism in place for those that can't play much.

The number one attraction to SOMA for me, over other mmo's is that;
TIME INVESTED = REWARD.

If you play a lot, you are rewarded.

If you don't play a lot, why on earth should you be equal?

If someone decides they wish to Multi, let them.
If you take pride in your character and don't want to Multi, then don't.
What someone else does with their time makes no difference to you/anyone else.
So what if someone has an Apus bow while you're still on Silver? Even without Multis, that will happen.
So what someone can kill Nightmares but you are only starting Wraith, that is NORMAL. There are strong players, mid level players and weak players and that's how it should stay.

Did devils quit on Dsoma when Charun reached level 100 donkeys years before everyone else?
Did humans quit Hsoma when Fleshtuh reached level 100?

Was there a restriction in place to let people catch up? No, No and No.

This "cap nonsense" is just that, why don't we just cap everyone when a new person joins the game? If you are beyond Elder Gazers and Raptors, have your leveling capped so all the level 20's can catch up.
See how stupid it sounds?

I guess the biggest problem for me is the esoma will never happen again as much as I wanted it to it won't. This server is a good option but the magic is no longer there. Now I am not ungrateful, this sever has brought my favourite game back to life and I will continue playing.

I just have fond memories of....

Guild wars where shadow armor was the best, and people who had shadow only brought it out for special occasions like guilds wars and GVW. There was such a thing as a mage such as Obliterator not where everybody was a warmage.

Having people like Icarus and Sabre wow people with 4th and not everyone having it within a month.

Mages of Soma vs Rebirth Vs Nightblades

Mugglemind and Niceday at the forge putting countless hours in crafting, not getting 100 wep/armor in a month.
Ainslee cooking

Wrath pit meaning you are pretty good and the top players at the time hunting there or higher. Wraith pit for a player is so easy to reach now.

My point is that everything has been by passed so quickly and players feel the need to player xx hours a day for bragging rights and the rest play the same amount to keep up. We have by passed everything just to get apus bows, 5th auras without stopping to consider the actual game. That for me is a bit sad and why I really dislike the multi and ridiculous hours people put in. The beginning of the game may as well be non existant.

yes I am old fashioned but the above is the reason I will still call this my favourite game in the old days. But it seems the game has envolved.

The long short is that you're nostalgic over Esoma (though it seems you stopped mid-way through Esoma as truckloads of people managed to level far beyond shadow) and you for some reason take offensively someone else's bragging rights?

I don't know anyone on Soma who brags about their achievements, if they invest hundreds of hours into a character, surely that's not something to be admired - they'll wreck their real life.

If it's a Multi, they never (ever) end well, so stick to playing your own char, your own way and don't care what others do, if they affect you, get your guild and PK them - take power into your own hands.

Style and Mr_Perfect are the two strongest humans (at a glance) and on the feed they've being killed several times.

For me, I just play the game - I know there are multis and people who invest unhealthy amounts of time into playing, but that doesn't affect me and nor should it you.

Like I've said before people seem to want a lot more for a lot less time played and soma just isn't that type of game, you can't have someone that plays for say 3 hours a day for example trying to compete with someone that plays for 10+ hours day it just doesn't work that way.

Simply throwing a cap on isn't really going to please everyone, what happens when a quite a few people cap and the cap is raised. The people in the low to mid level range are still going to complain the cap has been raised too fast or whatever because they haven't caught up yet.

games like wow with easy levelling kill grind games like soma.

i played esoma for about 3 years, wasn't hardcore player as i used to work 3pm - 11pm. managed to get to level 62 ish mayb more, 112 pot skill and even had really shit hp as i mixed str and int levels, but i enjoyed them years playing the game how i wanted and when i wanted and was proud of my char, only thing i was gutted about was not getting 5th axe even tho i had 2 sacred stone things from MWUN.

i don't care about level cap, i don't care what anyone thinks of my char, i enjoy playing the way i want and when i want once again.

If people don't like the game in its current state FUCK OFF!! and stop hanging around the forums crying

This is how you should play Soma in my opinion. Play it for yourself, your friends and maybe your guild.

Something I'd like to throw out there is a separate server for multis and individual players to balance it out?

At it's current state there will be no point in even trying to train in certain areas due to certain players griefing mid-level players - in my eyes and i'm sure alot of other people in my position its really not fair on people who train there characters by themselves to be competing against in some cases a consortium training one character. These consortium's are destroying every aspect of soma at the moment, in the finance, the upgrade department, and of course the pvp balance.

I completely understand that the stance on multis will never change but how is it fair that an individual person is expected to compete against these characters now, and especially in the long-term?

No.

I've answered this so many times now. Eventually characters with multiple users always get screwed over either.

A) Hitting the cap early and having nothing to do
B) One of the players users deletes it or griefs it.
C) Someone changes password.

What annoys me more is the "He has this so I should have this too" attitude. Soma is a game where you need to add some hours in. Whether these hours are over a long period of time or simply rushed in at the start. Everyone has the same playing field.

I believe Raver put it well. Play soma for yourself don't let other people having more of something effect you.

Bill Gates has billions I personally would like him to be capped and not earn any more until I catch up.

I agree with everything raver and isylver said. Maybe if people spent the time hunting instead of writing these post they would be in a better position :p

I disagree to anyone who says the magic isn't here with this server. I have never seen a server where I can go to absolutely anywhere on any map and there's people there and this server has that. It reminds me of when they first launched Soma out of beta.

There is no issue with multis now, people who have hit level 60 will know the slow down and they're still killable.

Anyone actually planning to quit over this may as well do themselves a favour and walk now.

Find it funny how the player feed is for hsoma these days because at the very start of the server a lot of the chinese players were killed and it now seems they're starting to repay the favour.
