User count - Retention.

Author Content Date
As we are all aware, the user count usually drops drastically after events like these.

I'm hearing from the grapevine people are actually leveling unrested during this event.. which leads me to believe that a majority of people are happy with the current rates of the server.

Obvious outcome would be to retain the current levelling rates to retain the user count. Any other suggestions as to how we can prevent the drop of to happen?

It’s great seeing Soma busy, I think these rates at present prove Soma is at the right place for everyone from your casual to hardcore players.

Levelling without rested is still pretty quick to feel like your advancing, drop rates on hsoma make you feel rewarded for your time.

I think more player based events would bring more community spirit to this great game which would help keep players interested. Dungeon raid map, RvR raid map something like these that require team work, race work and bring the fun and entertainment back into the lands of Soma.

Generally people happy to do unrested during event as that's more or less the speed they are used to
I think a big thing would be rested regen rate being upped rather than keeping current speed
At least until 110-115, the last 10-15 levels should be harder work imo

After playing for the first time in about 6 months i feel these rates, drop rates, anvil update etc are exactly what soma needs to be like at this stage.

If it goes back to normal i can see it going very low UC again.

I really dont see the issue with keeping rates like this, it gives people a chance to make new chars and try diff builds etc.

Also i really like the hero neccy quest it gives something new to do, but i do think it would be cool to gain rested while in freemode hunting as you can jump between lvling and questing.

Seeing more quests like that would be cool rather than just mags mags mags.

These rates and drops are spot on for casuals (and probably everyone). I've said it lots of times but making it easier to cap and farm will not make people stop playing sooner, it will keep people playing. There's so much to do at cap now and so many gear setups / build types that there's enough content other than levelling to cap once to keep us busy.

It would also keep PvP and wow alive of we all had capped chars to attend with

The problem with rested is it's a disincentive to play as once it's used up, I just log off. With the event, we're all levelling without rested and spending lots more time in game which is boosting the economy and making soma feel alive again.

I agree rested is super slow maybe 10% in 24 hours

So if there was a way to quest or hunt mags etc for rested it would keep people playing for sure

Also the economy seems to be the best its been in years trades are so much better because people are actually getting loot from hunts

Players are currently happy to level with unrested xp as they are lapping up the double drops.

I feel its at a good pace exp and stat gain wise, as well as the drops.

Id class myself as casual, very much so and I've probably gained more exp and drops as well as spending more time in game this month than I have in a year, easily

This is a good thing?

You want to keep people interested? Take advantage of this moment and announce a reset date later this year. There's nothing sustainable about doubling rates every 6 months to keep people interested, if the GMs are fine with pulling the plug on this server in a couple of years they should carry on as they wish but if they want it to go on for another decade they need to think long and hard.

The problem Devonne is most people won’t play at original rates. People’s lives are too busy to dedicate 3000+ hours in to capping a character. Only the truly addicted stay at those rates, the majority move on.

I don't think there's a single player out there who hits cap and thinks 'right, I'm done, let's move on to a different game'. There's loads to do:

Different builds
Crafting / upgrading
Hero 2
Mag farming
Bosses
PvP
Dailies
Dsoma

People always say soma is poor for group content and for levelling, it is. At cap though, there's quite a lot to do in groups which keeps people coming back to play. I would genuinely have more reasons to log in at cap.

Top 5 reasons I see people stop playing soma:

1. Real life gets in the way
2. Burnout from playing too much
3. Rage quitting over losing items at anvil
4. Another game takes up their time
5. Rates too slow to make it fun

None of those issues are created by levelling being too fast.

:D drops shouldnt go back down tho feel what should hapepen is boost the economy till the majrotiy can compete. then new gear put on 1x rate

New level cap wwith 1x rates, current rates left at 2x Crafting left at 2x

Will boost the economy for more casual players and new players
