QoL updates and improvements to the server

This thread is to consolodate the idea's and improvements for this server (Mainly Hsoma) for ease of view.

This isn't what's best for people's individual character or guild. This thread is designed to find what's best for the server. Please provide any and all feedback, good and bad but keep it on topic and civil. If anyone can think of anything i've missed, or anything that would help, please leave it here! Try to be as objective as possible.

General improvements
1.1 Myth Of Soma Discord.
Can everything thats related to server updates, or discussions for possible implementation to be posted on the forum please?
There is so much on discord that isn't on the forums and there are alot of people who don't use the discord, or have been banned for no reason and have no other way to get into there to see these updates.
I know some of the things on here will have been addressed, or will be addressed. ideally a sticky thread at the top of the discussion hall with future updates, what is being worked on etc.
Similarly with bugs, have a sticky thread in the bugs forum so people know what is a bug and what isn't.
Some of the things here will probably have been mentioned and you are totally aware of, but the players have no idea.

1.2. Changing skins around.
Change some skins to make things a little different.
People will happily donate their own work towards this server. The same could be said not just for armour, weapons and access, but for spells as well. Make it an event or a competition with awesome rewards.
A great advertisement for the server.

1.3. Dual screen bug
Using 2 monitors causes a lot of lag over time.
Update 15.7.20. This would take weeks/months of work and as such, is unlikely to happen.

1.4. Cap raise - last resort.
The level cap doesn't need to go up yet to keep people entertained.
There is so much more to do and so much empty space in the world of soma that can be done.
This can be done a lot later down the line. When the cap is raised, it should take an extortionate amount of time, even for 1%.
Allow the people who can grind the most, show that they are the strongest in game after the cap raises. Hypothetical example; 5 hours for 1%, on rested would be 2 1/2 hours.


1.5. New spells. Black, White, Blue.
Related to raising the level cap. Adding a new spell in, which a higher MA cap, that CANNOT proc, with a much MUCH higher INT requirement and much much more of a pain in the ass to get than zombie which will require new items, souls, scrolls for killing 5k tyt, merc etc.
White magic. Blink. Blink to a square within X squares.
Blue magic. Improved fireball. Aoe fireball spell with improved damage to match the requirements
Black magic. Fire/poison wall. Aoe spell that is placed on the floor for X by Y amount of tiles and lasts Z seconds on the floor. Anyone who enters takes damage and is poisoned/burned for damage over time. Anyone who sets in it multiple times has their damage over time reset or it could stack

High importance updates
2.1. Stone bug
When you revive after being stoned, you are still stoned.

2.2. Stone change
* Change 3rd stone to walk, rather than stone
* Give 3rd/5th diminishing returns.
* Make 3rd/5th stop the logout process
Hypothetical numbers. If you are stoned again within say, 3 seconds of being stoned the first time it only lasts 1/2 the duration. If stoned again within 3 seconds of being stoned the second time, it lasts 1/4 of the original duration etc.

Possible change to 5th
Make it skill/str/dex based. Most people are level 125 now so there is no difference in length of stone. Someone with 10str/dex/80 or 150 axe skill can stone someone for the exact amount of time as someone who's got 230 str and 220 dex.


2.3. End game melee mob
You NEED int to hunt mags. You don't NEED str. A mage with 10 str can farm there all day but a warrior gets rekt either way. Melee version of mags/alternative

2.4. New map - Abyss
Only available to level 125.
NM's, BLG, Mags, elders, boars, trolls, wasps, shamans, mags and elder mags. Large vast spawn area's to cater for alot of people but not enough that you can't hunt there because of dura hammering.
Level 125 only entry. Give higher drop % chance to all mobs here. No immunity until cap raise, at which point immunity on the map is reinstated.

2.5. Nega weapons skill balance
Increase all nega weapons skill to at least 180, the current balance is massively unfair towards sword/spear.

2.6. GVW Rework.
Have GVW with 3 stones like SS.
Add in multiple GV entrances and ways into the GV hut. More respawn points making it harder for whoever is controlling the hut.
Each second on a stone contributes points towards a total score for that guild.
Players within the 3 guilds that have the highest points total are teleported to their own GV room, complete with a WH/GS and pot NPC.
You must be in the GVW area at the end of GVW to be teleported into the boss area's.

5 minutes later a set amount of bosses spawn for each of the top 3 guilds. The bosses despawn after 30/45 minutes and nobody can enter the guild hut until this time has expired or all of the bosses have been killed.

No crappy bosses like orc commander etc, a set list of bosses that can be useful for people who are approaching/at end game.

This may require the reduction in the total number of people allowed in a guild. This may not neccessarily be a bad thing as only a handful of guilds have 20+ people, let alone 25/30 active members.

2.7. Minton NPC's to show description of items before purchase
As title says. You shouldn' have to go onto the armoury to see the stats of an item.

2.8. Close Nega portal 10 minutes after it has died and prevent entry until crystals are done again
-SIde note, if you are stoned outside of the Negamare room, then use the portal to go in, you must relog before you can move again. It bugs you in place.


Medium importance updates
3.1. Moral rework.
Add in 2 new moral's. Heroic +100, Deviant/Sinful at -100.
The points taken to get from +74 to +100 should be 1.5/2x going from -74 to +50.
Similarly the points taken to get from -100 to -74 should be like going from -74 to +50.
Holy waters will not give moral points from -74 to -100. Make it so you have to grind to get back to moral, not just use 100's of stockpiled holy waters.

At "Heroic" moral you have permenant immunity. Possibly disabling PK mode and if it was disabled. Enabling PK mode takes you right back down to +50 moral.
If you attack anyone who isn't grey, devil or sinful/deviant moral at "Heroic" moral you go to +50 regardless.
Allow them to attack grey people, but they lose their immunity like everyone else for 24/48 hours.

This allows people who want to PVE the ability to PVE with permanent immunity but is a grind to get to

3.2. Repeatable end game quests

3.3. PK level range
Decrease to 10 levels.

3.4. Craftable gems
+1 stat tabs craftable with small gems + mares blood. ToW/RDT/DT etc.

3.5. Rework disassemble
This is currently useless and would add some use to all drops. Imagine getting an untag psycho bow/nega weapon but you can disassemble for some shiny mats? Rather than just NPC junk
Make disassemble useful

3.6. Remove untag drops from below 2nd tier weapons, stinger, BWA etc.
Add them into NPC's for people to buy. Make it so if any untag of 2nd tier (Psycho bow, MM etc) and above will give some shiny materials if disassembled. Goes hand in hand with the reworking of disassemble

3.7. Reflect bug

3.8. Aura cool down.
Grey out auras in spell bar when on CD and refills as it comes back off CD. Like wow
Or have a timer which is slightly transparent so you can still see the auras

3.9. Improvements to Gypsey Village

3.10. Add elite mob spawns of normal mobs

Spawning an elite version of a normal mob after so many die
Give it a higher chance to drop items the normal mob drops
GIve it 1/2 extra drops outside of the normal mobs drop pool. Gems would help, allowing to farm more than just the same mobs (DL/Palus for dia, BLG for ruby)
Could be done on all mobs? so it can benefit everyone.
No world shouts to say one is spawning, just have it spawn same location everytime so people hunting the mob gets a fair chance.
Gets more people hunting

3.11. Rework of POS POUCH REWARDS
Awful rewards for 25k pos

3.12. Cross world mute option

3.13. Rain events.

3.14. Confirm dropping of a tagged/upgradad item
Self explanitory. Would stop anyone accidentally dropping items

3.15. Icons to show status effects
Icons above F1-F4 to show status effects, slow, blind, zombie etc


Low importance updates
4.1. Add in a skilling dummy in TYT.
You do not gain rested whilst hitting it. You can gain skill and con like hitting a bug, but it is not on rested, it is at 1/2 normal rates.
Add in an NPC that you can heal for INT into TYT. 1/2 rates, doesnt work on rested.

4.2. Minton Jewels for valor scrolls
Make it a high cost

4.3. Allow gems to be disassembled, from med - 3 smalls. large - 3 meds etc

4.4. Removal of stamina regain from duels. Increase stamina regain from 5 per tick to 10-20

4.5. PK Immunity from daily marks

4.6. Upgrades rework
Change muscle pill/bulging muscle pill to add +bag weight on upgrades, rather than - weight on upgrade.
Possibly look at changing the family of devils pills and groomy tabs, as even 2-0/0-2 is nothing on an upgrade anymore

4.7. Removal of all pot drops from mobs.
The only thing that maybe useful is MP pots, However. barr isn't an issue, neither is saving time to run back to hunting area because we have portal scrolls and hunts last so long now because of high bag weight. Pots are generally treated as trash and NPC'd

4.8. Auto start Quests
Automatically start quests that aren't dailies/kill 1 mob. Eg. Kill Dionaea/Gorshak/Negamare

4.9. Materials drops for crafters.
Remove bar drops from farm. Increase materials dropped by mobs to 10-20 to allow people to farm materials rather than having to buy them. Add a little more variety. Excluding swamp beast gems, lich jewel and mag frags.

4.10. Reflect bug

4.11. 200 Skill robe
Bag weight + is very underwhelming considering the skill taken to get to 200. Once you've hit 200, there is no real need for extra bag weight
The one that stood out for most people was increased chance for a tagged weapon, followed by the refundable materials.

4.12. Change to 5th bow
Unsure on road to take, but needs changing in someway shape or form. Discussions here
Rework 5th knuckle and 2nd sword as all 3 aura's aren't used.

4.13. Make nightmare craftable. here
Now that there is a new int robe in game can nightmare be craftable?

4.14. More WH/GS slots.
Everyone has store characters to manage their inventory now because the amount of space is limited.
1. Increase the amount of slots available per X amount of levels.
2. Allow the purchase of more slots from the donations store and allow more slots to be purchased in-game with bar as a bar sink

4.15 Additional hot keys.
Allow binding of more spells other than F5-F8

4.16. Remove feathers, add engage/disengage auras

4.17. Prepare/cook/potion like SR In the works?

4.18. Add another daily boss spawn, like Negamare

4.19.. Crafting quest
Requirement minimum 150 skill, possibly higher.
1 example - Craft 40,000,000 daggers/shoes/rings for a 100% chance at an upgraded item (below +5)
Or the chance at a +3 upgraded epic/intense armour/access of your choice

Allow a 20 second timer to pick up drops from Negamare. So frustrating to be kicked out of the Nega room, only to be smashed by 10 adds on your way in to stop you from getting to your drop.

5. Proc in trade window Done

7. Make boss souls tradable - Done

8. Feather changes - Done
Increase feather stacks to 20.

9. Make an intense combine possible for reroll - Done

Some good ideas, seems obvious to buff 2nd sword etc. Also buffing reflect/protection and other unused spells just improves gameplay.

Definitely disagree with removing the pk feed though, one of the best things about the game compared to esoma. Once people start running about not caring about dying all the fun in pvp is lost

change 5th axe to the same as CTF aura where ur disabled but ur invulnerable also.

increase 5th aura skill required to 180/200?

While I was in the volunteer group I did suggest for dsoma medium ruby to drop from a blg counterpart either war beast miner or demented warthog to be able to farm them 24/7 like hsoma can........ never heard anymore.

I also suggested end game mob consisting of 2 spawns vod and another map for both melee and mage so 4 spawns in total and a mob for each..... never heard anymore. Then elder mags where introduced......

Drop rates x2 is way too much even 1.5 I feel would be too........ but dsoma definitely, seriously needs increasing because at times it does feel like the drop rates on dsom is broken completely, and I’m saying this not for me but for the hardcore dsoma community that have stuck by dsoma throughout everything, they deserve drop rates to be seriously looked at.

I think the reason for not introducing another map is not to spread out user base even more otherwise it feels empty

The biggest thing we can do is take a look at ourselves and who we play with and self police the inappropriate and disgusting “banter” that goes with the rivalry.

If someone says someone/does something utterly disgusting and out of order Kick them from the guild and start killing them.

The only way people are going to change is if their direct peers do something about it.

Could maybe have one the same all mobs give pos but
