ISylver came on discord last night

Author Content Date
And said he may find some time to do odd bits for the game and he was also open to do another council with some players.

I don’t tell you that out of my own self interest but so maybe others can have a chance to show an interest.

Im open to sharing with others how to make things in the game for those showing a genuine interest but otherwise maybe fin or iSylver can show you. It takes time, nothing is that easy.

Maybe some goodvibes there for you, depending how you feel.

personally, I would say any new council would be pretty much pointless.

A couple of in-game game-Masters, with limited Games Masters abilities, who could be able to run events and generally provide a fairly regular in game presence might be beneficial........

But without Fin and Dan being able to put in any significant amount of their time, things are not gonna change very much I fear.

Probably the best thing that people can do is propose small easy to implement changes it would then at least stand a chance of getting implemented if they were worthwhile.

Other than that I have no idea what else might help.

It’s the very first time I’ve ever heard Isylver say he would be open to help. He’s not had time for various reasons and that is absolutely fine. I hope that this offer of help is taken up by capable people.

As BigBert has said though, small quality of life changes would be the best route. Get a few of these done and then if progress is good and both the current GM’s are happy then maybe some bigger implements might be given the green light.

Potentially a thread in the ideas section might be a good start, gauge what the current user base see as important issues to address, what they feel would help the most. But also for players lingering on the side lines wanting to play again with some changes would be good to hear their side too.

This could be a really exciting opportunity to really improve the game, so on that note I would suggest trying to keep any discussions clean, polite and positive. If we all end up arguing like idiots nothing will ever be done and soma will, soon enough end.

Mitchy.

1st priority imo

fix the stat gains and add some xtra levels.. one new int and mele mob

if stat gain issue is a problem. then add 5 levels with no slower gains than at present

at least ppl can catch up on their lower stats in the meantime if they wish .. while the issue is sorted

maybe an increase in valour scrolls dropping and some champ armours too

This at least adds something to do for the capped characters.

Opening the donation store again might add some gm interest.. surely no-one would be knocking on the door after nearly 11 years

I heard iSylver went on discord to give an update on his absence from soma. That iSylver and his little one have been really badly health wise.

I’ve said this many times but I’ll say it again iSylver you never have to apologise or justify yourself when it comes down to real life and especially when it’s to do with the health of yourself or your family. I hope you and the little are over the worst and on the mend now, look after yourself and your family.

As for a council, I don’t believe there’s a need for it as we already have the ability with the suggestion section to post ideas etc. the trouble is at times suggestions become a popularity contest or who shouts the most/loudest to try get there ideas implemented. There are some great suggestions in there and lots gets overlooked or you get the standard replies from the same players “ botters will abuse this, that etc”

As MickyC pointed out some type of gm presence would be great, but this comes down to trust. As iSylver has been burnt in past regarding his trust, i understand how hard it is to try again.

As for what tweaks, Qol changes that could benefit all. I would suggest breaking down all the walls that slowdown the progression that puts players off from logging on to continue there soma journeys.

Maybe it would be better to have someone who is effectively an "Events Master" rather than a GM, Somebody who could summons mobs for simple invasions and also run existing programmed events and propose new events to the GMs for their consideration. These EMs would have no other GM powers AT ALL so the possibility of corruption would be minimised.

They could also keep a general watching eye on the game and report any perceived issues directly to the GMs, Maybe give them the invisibility skill and the ability to teleport around all of the maps to assist with this?

Whoever fills these roles should be anonymous and given a gm style suit and a gm chosen character name. This would prevent any backlash against individuals who are helping out by fulfilling these new roles.

Dan, if you see this, pls just mod fox, bigbert or ravensoul on forum so actual discussions can take place without 20x noob characters accusing people of being paedophiles.

No thanks, no one ingame is biased free. other then gms no should be given the ability to do any types of these things.

There's plenty of non biased people, well there was. I'm sure at least some would return if things started happening with the game again.

The big issue with events was the toddlers managed to ruin most of them in the past, even with the GMs there. They just couldn't help themselves, to the point PK mode was disabled for them. I wouldn't fancy the chances of some random person having much joy, given it's mainly just the toddlers left playing. Couldn't hurt to try something though.

"REPTILIAN"1st priority imo

fix the stat gains and add some xtra levels.. one new int and mele mob

Opening the donation store again might add some gm interest.. surely no-one would be knocking on the door after nearly 11 years

This would 100% not help the game in anyway shape or form.
U can get epic Val weaps in 4 decent runs at ToV so that doesn't need to be fixed.
Donation store is a nightmare waiting to happen with recalling of money.

As mitchy said... Simple quality of life changes would be a very good starting point

It's funny, the item treadmill being too punishing is one of the biggest reasons people have quit and why you see bots running around everywhere and *still* certain people don't think it's a problem.

ToV is boring and dead more often than not, it's about time people stopped deluding themselves that the only realistic way of getting several items being tied to ToV is anything but a bad idea.

Updating the drop tables is quick and easy and if word got around you didn't have to spend years grinding to get nowhere it could actually bring people back to the game.

But yeah, QuALIty OF LifE.

A few off the top of my head;

Have a look at some of the older boss drops, for example Pamoth…. Who even bothers when they see the shout go up? Get a nega tear added to the drop file or frags and add in nega weaps / champ armor and people would be going. That’s the same across the board for older bosses.

Bosses which drop souls for accessories could potentially use a 10-30% timer reduction to help all players get some boss access to compete with the +8 double tab access out there.

ToV tweaks which I made a thread about a few weeks ago, go have a read of changes I think might help.

Increase the drop rate of scrolls from normal mobs, this will help casuals who can’t attend tov runs for whatever reason. Also keeps players logged in for the 3 hours between runs where they would normally log off. Also on this point if tov didn’t change at all then this is needed as more often than not hsoma has about 4 people trying to do a tov run and it just ends by round 5 or less.

Look at tweaking end game mob drop files, elders don’t need to drop psycho bow tier weapons, nor do I think Titus is needed there anymore. Throw in hard tag only champion and valour weaps. Make that the same for vafers and prism spiders (keep Titus at Vafers)

Also drop rates in general, over Christmas I saw plenty of positive feedback about how rates were brilliant. Let’s get 4x as a perm basis. Obviously the argument of oh but in 6 months time we will want it going to 5x. That may be the case, but if we don’t do anything now then in 6months time we won’t have a game to moan about wanting more from it.

I would absolutely love to see a level raise, a couple of new mobs and new armor / weaps which drop normally and from bosses not just bloody valour! BUT and a big but here, the stat system needs to be fixed first, and that required a lot more effort and time compared to those short quality of life changes you requested Lupi.

So if anyone else would like to add some constructive feedback to these suggestions or if they have their own suggestions get them written down and let’s start hashing out an action plan which can be presented to the GM’s to think about / give the green light.

We as the community have a fantastic opportunity to have our say and hopefully make some changes which will prolong the life of soma.

Mitchy.

Completely agree with this mate. The level increase can only come if the stat gains are sorted out.

X4 would be unreal over Xmas the economy was bouncing!

How about new int robes? Diabloist skin?

Revamp of the bosses that spawn and noone cares about like he says, pammy Hartman etc.
