Just to clarify.. the proposed +2/+3 system
Does it guarantee success up to +2/+3, or does it return base item to you if it fails? EG... Intense OTM +1 going +2/+3 is 100%, or if upgrade fails the OTM is wiped and you get it back as a 1 dura item now Intense OTM +0 Kinda confused?!

Isylver's suggestion that at your first attempt if it failed would result in just losing the upgrade item being lost and the dura of the item is reduced to 1 meaning you would have to sr it.
If you item is already at +1 and the second attempt failed it would reset the item back to no upgrades on it and again only lose the upgrade item and dura put to 1 again you will need to sr it. If your item is at +2 and it failed you lose everything.

First 2 upgrades are not 100% they just don’t break the item your upgrading. It still might take 5 toes to get to +2.

Absolutely ridiculous system, seriously... literally no benefit as far as I am concerned.
If '+1' on item even if fail isn't viable, make it '+2' on fails, say after '+4' But the proposed scheme is pointless. I'm sorry, but I plugged on in Soma waiting/hoping for decent updates, and this is such a minute change you may as well not bother, lol. Good luck with the server. Might pop on the forum to see how it goes, but this really doesn't excite me or make me want to play.

I don’t want this to be misconstrued as somehow abusive, i’m just voicing my opinion as per the function of this thread.
With that said I think that the proposed system is pretty absurd tbh it doesn’t really address the concerns at all. It says a lot that a fairly untested system that completely decimated d soma within a month of release (110 stat allocation patch) was foist onto the game on the pretence that it can be tweaked as necessary, 2-3 years later not a single tweak has taken place despite 100s possibly 1000s of feedback comments from the community and yet we can’t try something out a bit more drastic with the anvil. Esp something that makes such clear sense at least theoretically and at least judging by forum posts has a sizeable amount of support in the community. GMs please reconsider doing something a bit more brave - if necessary then tweak later but honestly the current proposal doesn’t even address the problem in my view.

Sounds like they’ve already made their minds up about the anvil, which kinda sucks.

I see points from both sides, but I believe atleast 80% of the community is asking for the change not to occur and if it still does then what is the point in the soma community council if our voice isn't heard.

I think what may help this thread and the general topic of the Anvil is to do a few visual diagrams for different options, be a lot easier to see what will work and wouldnt in a practical sense.
I'll see if I can draw up iSylvers idea and others that have been posted.

i think the idea was to democratically go through each post, tally up the suggestions and at on the data.
So its about as fair as its going to get, you're always going to have people disagree |

That isn't the problem Foxy - at least for my part I understand the proposal fine.
The problem is that the idea was supposed to be that the community puts forward issues and via this council of skilled people who're going to help out the GMs, we go back and forth on what needs to be changed and what could/should be implemented. The impression i'm left with is that Dan has come up with something of a non-measure that doesn't make much sense, doesn't address the issue and that unless that plan is amended or at least seriously debated at this conference on Sunday then the whole dialogue is something of a farce. I can't attend the Discord conference unfortunately but I've spoken to Cho independently and i'm hoping that he will be successful in conveying the concerns about the proposed plan and the alternative that myself and others have detailed in this and the other thread.
