time for lev cap + mayb?

=> need for new str mob when cap is raised
=> when I get to level 100 (level 91 atm) ...cap will be raised

As a pure bow person, I feel pretty certain it's the slowest viable way to level up. Mobs are geared towards having more strength and less dex, so dex is never the problem. Even if I hit, I don't often do enough damage and I always need pots.

But I knew what I was getting into :)

Disagree. Its tge slowest at first but is faster long term towards end game. Would like to see some hours played comparisons....

ive got 100% rested cause of the lack of time I am able to play if I do dex when I get home from work ur lucky if I can get .1 or if I am very lucky ill drop in a .2 so this gives me the option off do I do int? and get hammered by the big str chars out there or do I do str and still not hit anyone where if I do int I cant cast because of my dex im in a no win situation and tbh rested is a great idea but even with rested I still cant gain the stats that people are cause they play 12+ hours aday

Well, I guess I can't really know that at my level. Ask me again when I'm higher.

But bearing in mind I don't plan to switch to a str weap at all if I can help it (or at the very least, there's no way I'm capping str), I find this hard to imagine.

Lets just wipe the server, remove all weapons from the game apart from a new one - Sticks, which have varied degree of pointy-ness as you gain more stick skill. Then everyone will have the exact same Strength and Dex gains, the only difference being the amount of time they spend doing Int.

But I'm sure people would still find a retarded way to complain.

"_SEPHIROTH_"Shouldn't be a attainable cap, ruins the game. Rates were set too fast an rested xp too beneficial for the top brass. This is a discussion we shouldn't need to have. The game is/was fun between 1-100. Isylver an Fin have to reinvent the wheel now because the stats get skewed after 100. Here's a quote from myself on SomaDev fourms before this server came out.

If there was a cap, all the ultra hardcores plum / chinese ect would be like lvl 130-140 god knows what and be so ridiculously far ahead of everyone else it would be almost pointless for the average joe to play.

So what? Did you just stumble accidentally into a mmorpg? Isylver can keep bumping up rested xp for the lower/mid levels.

Your never going to compete with people that have the time to invest so compete with the people around your level. You don't have to be max level to contribute in a big pk battle or a gvw.

If you can't swallow that pill then don't play a game that is time = win.

know what im gonna like too see, when new monsters come ingame and we all level 100s at same monster BIG pk wars are coming then lmao that bit i cant wait for also hunting with about 40 players will be fun, cant wait

"HYPNOS"A reasonable level cap is required to keep the game alive. By all means you could make it a hardcore race but eventually people would give up. For the longevity of the server the level cap needs to be kept reasonably in reach for the average person.

If you want soma to still be going strong in months / years to come, the game needs to be tailored towards gearing at cap rather than just level. (Which is what test server was and why it successfully lasted so long)


Lets face it, if plum or the chinese were still leveling at the rate they were at the start of the game, the vast majority of players currently playing wouldnt even tickle them, gvw would be dead and probably demotivate most players. Level cap does not need increasing for a long time considering there are only like 5 or 6 not piloted / chars bought off ebay at level 100.

No I won't 'just face it' lol why don't you just face that your bitter about people being deseredly stronger than you.
If what you want is to encourage the lower/mid level players to keep up then you should be campaigning for a better rested xp system that, currently is actually like 5 times more for beneficial for a level 95 than a level 41.

I'll just repeat what I said in a older thread about bringing players back. Something several others agreed with. (an not just Heisenberg lol)

Personally it was the level cap that made me quit even though I never hit it on Acaelus. Once we got to 85ish I knew the scope to 'get ahead' was gone. And for me thats whats soma is all about. The super hardcore want to stay ahead of the hardcore, the hardcore want to stay ahead of the semi casual an the semi casual want to stay ahead of the casual etc etc.

I'm sure if I kept playing Acaelus would of capped not long after Plum and I would of just immediately quit like he did, so what was the point? Before long the 'hardcore' will catch you up and you might as well be playing cod or something as your all on a similar playing field. The point of soma has been bled out once everyone is 100, you may as well restart the server.

Cater the game to the casuals and you lose your hardcore+ players. Thats what happend to warcraft after BC.
