Hi,

This is a controversial post, so I am not posting it on a main for fear of getting banned; but we need to face some serious issues with the future of the server. This type of post has been put out a thousand times, but it needs to be addressed again because the game either needs to change drastically/wipe and restart/shut down.

We can see Finito is working hard fixing bugs, this has been evident in a few of his comments and some of the updates. iSylver has not been seen for a number of weeks, for whatever reason, that is fair enough.

The current event is evidence enough of the state of the server - no one is logging on. The content of this event is 3 years old; there's enough minton jewels in game to hand to anyone who requests them, they don't even have sale value anymore. The only worth while item on the list of words is a small diamond....You can get one nearly every 4 hours by camping d3 PTR.

Releasing a test server for cap raise is pointless, people will just be annoyed when that disappears.

Currently with a player count of about 10 at best, no guild wars worth going to, PvP happening once a day if you're lucky with DL outnumbering everyone at least 2 to 1.

Big controversial changes have to be made, and fast. Just release the level cap raise, change the size of guilds to 15, make a worthwhile event everyday; or wipe the server and start over; or shut it down.

So what if the level cap raise is buggy? there is a low enough player count atm for it not to matter
Can't work out the devil level cap system yet? keep there's the same until there is a solution

And put the new mobs in TYT or MERC....

The fun has gone, there is no competition.

People have given plenty in donations and we need to see some results from that. Finito fixing unnecessary bugs is just not good enough.

Lets bring this server back.

I do appreciate everything the SomaDev team has done, and I do understand out of game commitments, but please just make a change.

I honestly don't see the need in releasing a test server, you approached that point quite well. Personally, I don't know why it's taking 3 years to increase the cap (bug issues i'd assume, or lots of calculations). It's not that I have a capped character or not, there's nothing being released, we've had the same halloween event for about the life span of the server. The same thing is just getting repeated and repeated, and it's to the point where even farming for items is terrible, the drop rates are at an all time low. Also being a lower level, people want something to level to most of the lower level players will reach 70 with the same content and just get bored and quit.

+1 I don't think a incomplete level cap rise would change anything, as would ring back very few people and most of which play Alta at the linen time anyway,


8if time is needed to complete tests then wipe the server, anyone who made donations should be given these items again and let every1 level up again while waiting to get ready for 100+

People have capped 3/4 players and at least could bring back some competition and ones who feel are ge best now just got to prove it again, not like they are not still leaving new chars anyway.

Would make gv and pvp wotw different again and give gm's time to fix some stuff, rather a wipe then it slowly die out anyway - give a date in the future and some advertisement on Facebook / email address used to Reg accounts that will be starting the final one etc and get some new people

Just a thought. But something needs to be done I agree

The new content is being worked on as Fin/Ghost outlined couple of weeks ago .. a test server is to ''test'' the new stuff... thats a bonus for players.. not a penalty. The test server will proly be at 5-10x speed.. just to balance things out as was xplained..then the game can carry on.
Some guys really see the glass as half empty..!
It's simple really.. u play or u don't..and as beggars can't be chosers ..we play with what we have and with what the gm's provide for us.. imo

Totally agree with everything.

Event wise - Rewards just need changing or add couple of new pages to freshen it up would make a big difference and change boss from 50 mysterious to 20, make it like Bertha or something.
Get some kovlar crawling about.

I think whatever's prepped should be released... For both worlds... I think everyone has waited long enough.
Originally I came back after working away for a bit - thought I would cap, never capped before, but it's drifting - regardless of how close you are - if there's nothing there when you get there - what are you really playing for? When as said the user count is all time low (during event)

update incoming can add/ improve whats before lev 100 too.. i agree with you thehood .. Only thing is.. releasing whatever's prepped b4 its ready ..isnt good for any1

The update dosnt need rushing, it needs doing properly for the good of soma

Stop saying to shut the server down, I may not play currently, but I love soma and Hope that drop rates get looked at, dosnt matter how fast war beast miners are if nothing ever drops

I'd play if there was a wipe and drop rates tweaked, or il be back once this update is ready

I see no point in rushing to put out a product that isn't ready. An excuse of we have a low player count so it doesn't matter is pretty redundant, I played this server because it was well constructed and designed. Like everyone else i was playing other servers back in Somadev days and we had countless rushed jobs and they all ended up the same way. I guess im just slightly more patient than you guys.

That said i understand the lack of competition argument and the same old events every special occasion, i use to log on just for events like that but since its all repeated now i don't really bother.

I think the team has done so much over the period il back them all the way even with delays, Its not like these guys are getting a salary. I can barely fit in enough time to log onto the website let alone develop a game around full time careers and children.

Im not sure what the UC is at the moment because i don't log in too often but the fan base are all in the same bracket i don't expect we get too many new players just old esoma ones, which means we are all getting older with responsibility and all the crap stuff i never worried about when i was playing esoma living at home i could grind as much as i wanted and didnt have to worry about work tomorrow morning.

Im surprised at the teams dedication i thought fin/isylver would of jumped shipped a while ago its a lot of work for little reward.

so i pretty much addresses none of the points in this post and just rambled on but its my 2cents.

First off, you are not going to get banned for posting constructive feedback. Banning happens because someone ends up turning it into a flame war (Please don't do this).

The beta test is to just have more than me play on a server with all the system changes to avoid there being any major bugs that might happen on the actual server if we was to just put it straight onto that. Also to gather some quick feedback on new systems introduced and see if we need to make a change before launch.

Also with the upcoming level cap raise, we ideally do need to get all the in changes in at the same time otherwise you end up pushing small changes that constantly change the mechanics of the game and that is not fun for anyone, basically changes containing a lot of balance changes are best done in bulk.

There have been plenty of times (even the current event) where mistakes have happened on the server and had to reboot to fix things. Having a beta test server for patches will hopefully prevent this from happening.

With regards to the event I just re-used last years because it seems most enjoyed it and its only a yearly event. The halloween boss drops have been updated. I assumed the rewards for the letters are still ok.

What worthwhile events do you want though? Things like WotW, GVW, SS? Or things like GM spawning NPCs? The main issue with the spawning of NPCs is what do we make them drop and who is able to take part. We do not want to just flood the server with items although by accident last years xmas event was a bit too crazy.

There is no competition you say, so what will help to create that? Other than the changes already coming.

Why do you want the new mobs in TYT or Merc? Also I have given some thought about moving spawns around (mostly devil soma though).

Also in general it would be more useful if feedback given contains some ideas and suggestions for fixing the issues raised. It will help speed up the process of getting changes into the game.

I'll be honest here, I have not kept that up-to-date with the actual content, I spend most of the time working on the tech behind everything. With Dan being busy I need to start getting up to speed with it and pushing content changes myself.

How exactly will the change of guild size help? My fear with changing it any lower is that they become too small to actually be guilds. Are there any other options?

With regards to wiping the server, we really never want this to happen, this server is supposed to show that a long lasting soma server is actually possible (even if it might not seem like that right now).

Anyway, I would like to ask a question, right now, before the level cap raise patch (so excluding those changes), what can we do quickly to improve the current situation?

suggestions for quick improvement ..
1. nms have a tow and mayb couple of other items added to drop file.... ( like dt's drop at blg) they can be monotonous with best drop being frogs

2. make the anvil slightly kinder ...its tough doing upgrades

3. alt gems give 2 x items... so more red mets/leather/bones for crafters to experiment

my 2pennethworth ;p

also..anyway to make the boss spawn times totally random to prevent ppl camping.. its the same ppl playing several characters that are getting all the kills?

As regards competition .. its tough to kill 1 v 1 with similar lev characters ... so the cap+ will bring out the bigger differences in stats making this more viable..
once u get the first cap+ working ok..if you could keep the xtra levs coming, that would keep the hardcore levelling to maintain their advantage... I think thats the main problem now with competition .. unless its group pvp with one of the larger guilds.. pvp doesn't exist. .. Hence most ppl shy away from it..
Some advantages/ perks to being in a guild/ attending gvws might help..tho cant think what atm

For me personaly from a dsoma player

-Drop rates (weapons)
-Wbm could have there magic reduced a little or the amount they hit with it (the hardness of wbm means you have to concentrate more meaning with low drops I get board, fast)
-Wbm could lose abit of exp if that means bringing hogs and apai a bit closer

- as for upgrades, it's heart breaking how hard it is first off getting upgrades and then just failing stright away(and the fact I don't like crafting so have to rly on ppls word for if a item has failed)

Hsoma - make a quest for nm and blg like 5k of each and u get a tow or dt or ep whatever and so you can repeat it for ever... make every mob drop alt gems.

There are a few improvements people would like to see.

Bring back the abyss. People enjoyed hunting abyss for quest items. Just up the drop rate.

Make some bosses like GDG. For example MWUN from abyss. Do boxes to make it spawn. This brings guilds together and go on a big hunt and gives others the chance to attend. The current situation with bosses at the moment is, once the dominating guild arrives, they pk people off the boss.

Dont make upgrades easier. There is alot of +6,+7,+8 items. If anything, make upgrades go to +10. This gives people a new challenge, but keep the success rate same as +8 for +9 and +10.

Up all drop rates as the usercount is at a all time low.

Sort magma beasts lords out as they are a joke. Make them less powerful so you can hunt a couple at a time.
